Anthony Stacey made some pretty salty comments when UT hired him...and he was welcomed back

Salty? That's where he got those extra pounds. I mentioned this week's back in the basketball forum, Stacey needs to lose weight! Now! His weight is not healthy. He is bigger than what Rick Majerus ever was.Flipper wrote:Anthony Stacey made some pretty salty comments when UT hired him...and he was welcomed back

I've heard crickets. Often the assistant coach carousel doesn't really start turning until later in the month.

Would that be Jiminy Cricket? He may be a perfect fitMarkL wrote:I've heard crickets. Often the assistant coach carousel doesn't really start turning until later in the month.

Well, we already have a termite for a head coach tearing the program apart from the inside out, so why not add a cricket to the staff.gmartin wrote:Would that be Jiminy Cricket? Which might suggest it's a coach currently on another staff or tht the move was made without a specific coach in mind...or both...or neither...MarkL wrote:I've heard crickets. Often the assistant coach carousel doesn't really start turning until later in the month.

I would look to the Purdue coaching staff. New head coach and new DC with basically the same players led to a 20-something drop in ppg allowed in conference play, and that is with running a fast offense. And Midwest recruiting experience. If our head coach was vacant, among my first picks would be Holt, the DC.

What will happen first? We hire a defensive coordinator, or Kent State hires a head coach?

I wanted to give Lewis a serious look back in 2015. He would have been a great hire to maintain continuity. As a guy to build a program from the ashes? Not sure ... but at least Kent will have an exciting offense

It sounds like the recruiting is going pretty well anyway. Perhaps Jinks is waiting for some bowl games to wrap up so he can talk to some assistants at other programs. Hard to say what's going on here.MarkL wrote:What will happen first? We hire a defensive coordinator, or Kent State hires a head coach?

I am sure things on the DC front are happening out of our view, just like they should be. When a DC is hired we will know and then can spend the next month complaining because he isn't (insert candidate name here).

Uh ... my comment about the coaching search taking a while was a joke about Kent's coaching search. Among the first jobs to open and final to be filled. Supposedly turned down by 10+ people. At least it has finally wrapped up and with a quite possibly great outcome for them. A Dino Babers protege is a good hire for anybody if you ask me.
