Re: Coaching carousel
Tennessee has fired Jeremy Pruitt with cause, meaning he receives $0.00 in buyout. Apparently there was some kind of recruiting violation. Which makes me think three distinct thoughts.
1. If he were more successful at Tennessee, would he be retained and the recruiting violation end up as a slap on the wrist? Probably.
2. Or maybe, the recruiting violation is really that awful. Like Baylor scandal awful. In which case several more firings will occur.
3. Tennessee has been rudderless since 2008. With the exception of a decent 2015 team, they have been just awful. Lane Kiffin left a tire fire behind after one year there. Then Derek Dooley, Butch Jones, and now Jeremy Pruitt bombed out. They need to make a good hire who stabilizes that program.

A couple of other coaches have also been fired with cause at UT, so I'm thinking it's somewhere between 1 and 2.MarkL wrote: ↑Mon Jan 18, 2021 1:49 pm Tennessee has fired Jeremy Pruitt with cause, meaning he receives $0.00 in buyout. Re: Coaching carousel
Aren’t we scheduled to play U Tenn. this coming season? Could be more interesting than what we might have originally thought.
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)
Re: Coaching carousel
Yes, Tennessee is the opener as long as things stay scheduled the way they are. It’s definitely a situation to pay attention to.Class of 61 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 12:14 am Aren’t we scheduled to play U Tenn. this coming season? Could be more interesting than what we might have originally thought.

According to Pete Thamel on Twitter, Akron HC Tom Arth is a target for Staley's staff with the Chargers.
Something to keep an eye on.

Re: Coaching carousel
Akron should hire USC’s RB coach. He’s got Ohio ties, can recruit Texas, and he has experience as a HC in his league. Homerun hire!jpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Tue Jan 19, 2021 1:12 pm According to Pete Thamel on Twitter, Akron HC Tom Arth is a target for Staley's staff with the Chargers.

Nothing official from Akron on Arth yet, from player I know there.....
It’s not my point of view, it’s a fact.
Re: Coaching carousel
An Akron grad friend of mine offered to pack the moving truck.

Re: Coaching carousel
That's a hell of a career trajectory, no? He was at John Carroll like four years ago. If he was truly offered that role, I'd be shocked if he didn't take it.

Re: Coaching carousel
Trading Akron for LA alone is a no-brainer, never mind the chance to coach in the NFL.

According to reports, Arth is staying at Akron.
