Some of you are so uninformed it amazes me….if you think donors are going to pony up 1.3 million to get rid of him, you’re nuts. The great majority of that money is coming from the athletic department. (If they actually buy him out).
I shouldn’t be surprised because a lot of you thought things were headed in the right direction considering where things were.
I guess they could always try to cut baseball again? That can free up some money.
I’m uninformed in a lot of ways, but this isn’t one of them. I know for a fact they have the folks to find the money from.
Loeffler will find other employment and the university will settle with him on a lesser amount, just like Jinks. It won't be that difficult to pull off. There's precedence for this situation. Don't know why people can't understand that.
I’m not saying there aren’t donors who could potentially contribute to a buyout or that BG couldn’t do a buyout. I am saying that it isn’t nearly as easy as some of you think and BG put themselves in this situation (just like they did handing out an unwarranted extension to Huger).
As a donor, I don’t care how much money you have, you’re going to think long and hard before you hand over 100K-500k to pay a football coach to go away. Especially in this economy. Most donors won’t even consider it…the money will end up coming from BG Athletics. It doesn’t really impact Football, but other sports will suffer because of it.

You don't think he talked to donors before making the decision to give him an extension?

That's kind of where I'm at. It would have been indescribably irresponsible for DVDM and Rogers to sign off on an extension without knowing they may need resources as soon as this year for a buyout if things went south. Not having that contingency addressed would be malpractice.

That is giving an administration way too much credit who has a track record of malpractice going back to 2006 when Greg Christopher was hired.
Would it be giving Michael Huger a secret contract extension? Would it be giving Bob Moosbrugger a 4 year contract during Covid with no fans in the stands, a year removed from being reprimanded, with the football program in the toilet? How about the hiring process of Mike Jinks in general? Assuming this department even conducts the basics required of a state funded institution might be much. The previous regime called it being understaffed. The real world calls it being incompetent. No accountability ever.
No accountability ever...but all those guys you mention are fired.
People just like to complain. It's like they are wired to just complain complain complain and get their neurotransmitters firing when they can be the first to complain. I wish more people posted here because although I have them on block, and you all should too, I still click on them because there aren't enough posters. They drove off Grant, and MarkL and countless others who can have fun without posting about Kit Hughes every second.

The last person to join was in April 2022. Its been nearly 20 years since I registered but I'm assuming there is a piece where a moderator has to approve new accounts. It's not happening. I haven't seen the owner of this board on here in years.

This is correct. When you register for an account a board admin has to approve it. The last people to be granted access in April 2022 were done by Grant who discovered he actually still had admin rights to the board and he allowed them in, because one of them was the parent of a BGSU hoopster who wanted a voice here.
Bassdrummin' is still the owner of this board and he hasn't logged into the site in YEARS. I actually am concerned if he's alive/well. He must still be paying the hosting fees and keeping it alive, but he's completely absent, even so much as not approving these new account requests.
I enjoy this site for the history and some of the great people I've met here, but I 100% expect it to just go away sometime in the future. I'm certain it's costing him money. The current ads are invasive and annoying, but there is zero chance it's covering the costs of running the place.
I account the loss of posters more to this just being an outdated platform. Not only is it outdated, it no longer even gets updated. It’s pretty much looked like it does now for as long as I can remember.
I was a moderator on here for awhile...it was fun. Internet forums like this are a dying breed...for a variety of reasons. Facebook and other platforms mostly
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Its why its important to hang on to this community.
I think we have about 10 of us that would be great moderators. I think the same group of us would chip in to keep it going too.
Yeah, I don't have an issue with the design of the site, I'm sure there have been improvements to the platform it's built on, but again the owner would have to take the time to do that. I do see bassdrummin has at least logged into the site recently, but he hasn't posted since 2020.
We've lost members over the years to attrition, that stuff happens especially when there is little reason for positivity in the 2 biggest revenue sports over the past 7+ yrs. We aren't adding new members due to the fact that this is a dying medium along with having nobody to approve membership requests.
I enjoy this site. It's nostalgic for me as prior to finding this place I had never really met anybody else who actually cared about BG sports. It was my senior yr in school when I signed up here...and through 4 yrs at BG I had attended a ton of games, but for most people it was just something to do (a place to drink ,etc). Hell I remember some games prior to azz.com that my friends and I were the only ones tailgating for games period. This place brought folks together and it will always be my favorite place to talk BG sports. If there are worthwhile Twitter follows to engage BG fans there on any regular basis I haven't found them. The fb group is fine I guess, but I prefer this place.
But yeah, message boards are dying and this one probably quicker than most.
I definitely appreciate this place. I became friends with FalconFreak and a couple others that no longer post here because of it. I like that you can look back on ~20 years of BG history on here too.
