When I did a drive by earlier last week, a great deal of the brick work had gone up on the north side. Also, about 20% of the glass has gone up on the building. I'd guess they'll have it done by the Spring Game and hopefully offer tours through the building.

Wow, its cold outside, and the stupid sun backlights everything, luckily I'm so skilled with my camera...

wow i drove by this yesterday (had to sign some papers with ol' john newlove) and was COMPLETELY impressed. i hadnt taken the time to really check it out in person and i must say its really really impressive when youre there. much better then i thought it would be. i think it will boost the image of the doyt from a decaying relic of the 60s to a modern poster child mac stadium. the ONLY thing i worry about is the coloring of the non-bricked parts. they need to be just basic concrete to match the rest of the field. if done right it will blend in quite well since the stadium was non-descript anyway. if done wrong...well it will look like a hodgepodge and be a big letdown. the first time fan should see it and think its always been there...like it was part of the plan all along. do that and we just need a winning team to pack it full so we can see it in its full glory.

now if we could just do something about the ugly back of the scoreboard...(even a giant falcon logo to paste on there) and in my dream world add some stylishly done (not high school style bleachers) seats to the south endzone. we can dream right?

Maybe the Sebo is just the first step in an unannouced plan to "refresh" the Doyt!?

The problem with the scoreboard is that they keep trying to cover it every year with a vinyl type sign with the schedule on it and it lasts about a week before the first big wind blows it off and tears it up. This years editions was left up there just hanging at the bottom of the upper scoreboard until at least late in the season. The person that oversees the maintenance of our athletic facilities needs to be replaced NOW, and we need to find someone that has some experience and knowledge about turf maintenance, building maintenance, repair etc., before all of our facilities look like Toledo's baseball field!!! You would thing they would at least take down the old bleachers and the the remains of the press box on the track. It looks like the bad areas of Iraq or at least Dorr Street! Hopefully Mr. Christopher will see the light in the very near future, as he replaces some of the people in the athletic department.

Amen toi that!! The old bleachers at the track look terrible. You can build all the nice facilities like the Sebo Center you want, but if the rest of the facilities look like a sh*thole, why bother?

And it's not just the bleachers at the track that are in rough shape... there are gaps and creases on the running surface that can't be good for the athletes, too.

Because you have to build them one at a time.

I know what those words mean individually...but I have no idea what they mean collectively in this context.

You can't build them (the facilities) all at the same time because of funding issues. There is only so much money to be had. There is usually a push to replace one thing then a push to replace another thing....etc. etc. I would say right now that order is SEBO CENTER, CONVO, Ice Arena, the rest of it.
