There is still no excuse for us to lose to them given the 20 point fourth quarter lead, but they were better than mediocre this year.
Yes. Mediocre.

Buffalo had to go to OT in order to beat us, and WE were a mediocre team this year.....even though we did beat Pitt the week before Pitt beat Buffalo. What's more, if Buffalo hadn't beat us, WE would have been in the championship game instead of them. And, IMO once again, WE were a mediocre team this year.

They really didn't do anything all that impressive outside the conference, and squeaked into the MAC championship game.

This isn't just Buffalo. I'm speaking about the MAC in general since 2003. Take for example 2005, when Akron won the MAC after losing to Army 20-0. That snapped a 19 game losing streak on Army's part. Or how about the year before when Toledo won the MAC after getting pounded by Minnesota and Kansas.

I'm just frustrated with the fact that our conference is represented by teams that are not respected on the national level.

This is crap. You never have to apologize for a win. And you certainly NEVER have to apologize for winning a championship, no matter how it happens.

Buffalo is a deserving champ. They won the games they had to this season. The Giants lost a handful of games last season, but that definitely didn't de-value their Super Bowl win, did it? If you win the big one, you're the champ, no strings attached, period.

(My screen name and avatar set aside, I'm not a UB fan nor have I ever been.)

Congrats to the Bulls! I was pulling for them and I'm very happy they won. No apologies needed for the Bulls, they were clearly the better team on this night and are a deserving champion! Loved the emotion of Turner Gill after the game getting choked up over how far the program has come in three years, hard not to pull for a guy like that!

Oh, and by the way, Gill is gone, that whole team is going to graduate (19 starters) and they will be back to suckitude next year. Enjoy it now Buffalo, because your one title caused by divine intervention will be your last for a long, long, LOOOOOOOONNNNNNNG time.
This most Fraudulent talk is just ridiculous. Buffalo played Missouri very tough, played a very good Pittsburgh team down to the end (yes i know you beat them), and no game lost was not a good game. Every thing they got this year they had to fight tooth and nail for. It was possibly the most exciting season for a team i've ever seen in any sport on any level.

And oh BTW, Your whole team is about to graduate is completely wrong. Players coming back include James Starks (6th best rusher in Nation, and remember his touchdown run), Top in MAC WR Naaman Roosevelt (Yea you saw him too), 2 time 1st Team all MAC S Devonte Shannon (Ask your WRs how he hits), and Mike Newton (MAC Championship MVP), not too mention Zack Maynard our Multi Purpose Option QB in waiting...Sounds like we're not losing all that much if ya ask me.

How did they do against undefeated Ball State? As someone said- you win it on the field. Since none of the MAC's teams are respected on a national level how could it be otherwise? Congrats, Bulls!

Congrats on the championship win, Buffalo! You deserve every good thing that happened to you! I hope you win your bowl game too! Represent the MAC well!!!

(Ignore these people who are understandably still bitter about our disappointing season. Had we won the game against you and then won the championship game after the season we've had, a few people wouldn't be saying we didn't deserve it, they would have said we earned it after everything we had gone through.)

Again, CONGRATS, MAC CHAMPS!!
"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."

Buffalo has had a penchant over the last couple of years of pulling games out of the fire in the waning moments of a game. It's kind of like flipping a coin in the air ten times and having it show heads once. How often can this happen??? They're not the best team in the MAC. Having it to do over again, I'd put my money on all the teams that beat them as well as Temple, Akron, Bowling Green and Ball State. They especially had no business beating Bowling Green. Twas a fluke!

This was a sad display. I was really hoping Balls Tate would go undefeated this year.
Is he the brother of former Notre Dame player Golden Tate? :-)

Say what you will guys, that UB doesn't "deserve" this MACC .... they DO deserve it...when you come from behind by 20, then 14, then 7 against another team (not to be mentioned here)...when you can win in 4 OT's on the road against Akron, with everything on the line, you deserve it..

Yes, BSU "self destructed" with 4 fumbles (resulting in 28 pts. BTW)...but those fumbles were cause by hard hitting, stripping the ball...Was BSU "flat"? Yes they were...but bottom line; they were outplayed, and outhit...and if this wasn't Davis' WORST game ever, despite his overall passing numbers, I don't want to see the worst one. I think UB got into his head to be honest, with some hard hits, and some poor work by his center didn't help either.

In short, CONGRATS TO BUFFALO!
Education our Challenge, Excellence our goal. (look it up)

Two thoughts, completely unrelated:

1. Nate Davis apparently had the flu. Not saying that's an excuse by any means, but he certainly wasn't himself.

2. I have an incredible amount of respect for Turner Gill. He's a true head coach: a mentor first, a football mind second.
MarkL has spoken.
You may all now return to your daily lives.

Did you guys see the news! Gregg Brandon had a press conference and called out all the fairweather fans of the entire conference.

Sorry thats kind of out of character for me on this site.

What does "alter ego" have to do with my observations, H2 Rocker? How come nobody can make a simple observation on this web without some critic --- with impaired analytical skills, trying to make some dumb issue out of it. I made a simple observation from FACTS, and drew a simple conclusion. Just let it go at that.
