Game Thread: BG vs EMU. Do we need a thread
Re: Game Thread: BG vs EMU. Do we need a thread
BTW I can't help but see some 2012 BG in EMU. As in a young team that has gone through growing pains together and has believed in their coach every step of the way and is now seeing the fruits of their labor. I thought EMU would improve this year on the eye test but not on the record. Turns out I underestimated them. EMU is going bowling this year I think.

Not in the MAC. Last year's team was fortunate to have an depleted NIU. Last year's BG team was the worst conference ranked defense to win the championship. Sorry, in the MAC, defense still matters and why we crushed a healthy NIU in 2013.hammb wrote:I disagree.Rightupinthere wrote:We're witnessing the hangover from that philosophy and culture.hammb wrote:If we still had Babers running his offense there might be some justification in that.Rightupinthere wrote:We don't need a defense. With the offense putting up 25 points? Not so much.
I think we're watching a coach that embraces that same philosophy and cannot produce an offense that can score points.
There are plenty of highly successful college programs around the country try that are built around offense over defense. It's the way the sport has headed.
By when you try to play fast, try to quick hit drives, and cannot do so? It looks real ugly.
This team was destined to take a step back after losing so many playmakers from last year's group, but I don't think for a second we'd be this bad if Dino were still here.

For the first time in 12 years of following the program, I am literally embarrassed to be a fan of BG football.
I feel a monstrous rant coming on, but I figure I should wait a day or two.
We've hit absolute rock bottom. And the truth is that we were sold out by Kingston and Babers. I'll have more thoughts when I feel composed enough to get on the soapbox.

I see where you're coming with regards to championships. But at this point I'm not even thinking about championships. I'm merely talking being competitive and not being the worst bg team in decades.Rightupinthere wrote:Not in the MAC. Last year's team was fortunate to have an depleted NIU. I find it very disengenuous to pin that on Dino Babers.

Not sure what else to add. Certainly won't win the next two games. Credit to Creighton at EMU for building a nice team in the face of some adversity. At this point I hope the rest of the season allows Morgan and the young secondary to get some much needed experience to help their development. Goes without saying that this season is largely already in the trash.

I remember what was it 2008 when we lost a homecoming game to EMU. I thought we saw two programs crossing in opposite directions. I thought Jeff Genyk had figured out how to build a program and Gregg Brandon's luster had worn off. While the later may have been true, it turns out it was just a loss amid a tough year.

The worst day of my life as a falcon fan...with the possible exception of the meltdown later that year against Buffalo.Dayons_Den wrote:I remember what was it 2008 when we lost a homecoming game to EMU. 2008 was my senior year at BG too.
This game today is bringing back bad memories

Not a chance this is rock bottom. Brace yourselves this is only the beginning. If this was the bottom we'd have something to look up at. Not a lot of bright spots or things to thing up at this point in time.

Jinks will be the coach here this year. He will be the coach next year. Barring some sort of fiasco of back to back one win seasons (historically improbable in CFB) he will be the coach in 2018.
Sucks to lose...but c'mon..it's football. It's not like we're facing a death squad or we work for Deutsche Bank

It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.
Re: Game Thread: BG vs EMU. Do we need a thread
I think Dino is a huge reason our defense is so bad today. He does not know what the word means. He did absolutely nothing to aid our carry over defensive players and it shows. It is a total rebuild. I pity syracuse.
Re: Game Thread: BG vs EMU. Do we need a thread
Dino and Syracuse gave up 50 pts and nearly 700 yards today. Almost 500 passing.

TRUTH!hammb wrote:I will never understand this sentiment. I find the NFL product is a million times better than college football. Other than casually watching bg games the only reason I see college is worth watching is to play draftnik...Dayons_Den wrote:. My expectations have been tempered but I still find this 100x more interesting than NFL football.
Hell the browns are suppisedly ranking and supposed to be the worst team in NFL history and are still vastly more competitive than bg has been this year.
To each their own, but I will never understand how people diss the NFL while trying to praise the shitshow that has become college football .

The OL was supposed to be a great strength and has looked average, at best. I know there have been a few injuries but the unit overall has been disappointing. As much as it pains me to say, I watched the BYU-ut game and ut's line looks great.Flipper wrote:Our OL has been disappointing
