We can't beat Toledo but have BG's number. Go Huskies!!!
You're right...NIU is 5-11 lifetime against the Falcons. And we would gladly return the favor this season at the Doyt.

Bowling Green may play in the Orange Bowl this year.

Just maybe.
A possibility in my book....course, the pages of my book are printed in orange and brown and I need to use my orange and brown reading glasses...

IF, big IF, BG runs the table with this sched, the Falcons should play in a BCS bowl. Period.

they lost ryan periloux verbal however its spelled to texas and he ended up signing with LSU. thats just one example. Boise state has the best chance. they dont get overshadowed by anyone in idaho like BG does by UofM and OSU.
Utah was weak? You gotta be kidding me. Outside of USC, I think Utah could have beaten ANYONE in the country last year....home or away. Weak? Utah is a D-1 school and finished unbeaten. They EARNED a BCS Bowl. I, for one, was happy for Utah. Helps our cause in the MAC for the future.

No way was Utah a weak team last year.

Amen - how can any BG fan think that?

Think about Miami 2 years ago, and Utah last year. Shoot, Miami was the BEST team we played that year. They were better than Ohio State. Utah was a top 5 team last year. Put them in the Big 12 North and they still go undefeated. non-BCS teams get closer to BCS every year. This year will be no different.

utah was weak

Post by tekekini »

put BG or Toledo in the same schedule Utah had, they would have done the same thing... they also got help from their location...they get more attention because they are out west, no other major programs around them and they had a good year on another weak schedule the season before so they started with a decent ranking right off the bat. with their location they have an easier time getting local recruits where here in ohio we compete with everyone plus we get all of out players from florida california and louisiana, michigan and west virginia so we compete with everyone.. osu is good because trhey are able to get all the local studs most of our players are seem to be the ones no one else wants or they have no room for them.. not saying thats completely bad thing cos we have won alot of games but we could use a lot of help on defense thats for sure.

utah had a lot more going for them off the field is basically what i am trying to say. florida and california teams get the most help from voters..i garuntee if urbie and the gators are like 11-0 and have been winning by 10-14 points per game on a weaker schedule than osu or michigan and michigan or osu is also 11-0 but beating opponents by 30 a game...florida will be ranked ahead of them. their are biases all over college football and the AP especially for those schools in those states. texas can be thrown in there too.

i just personally dont think anything will change for a while. prolly a long while

Utah was not weak. I can't even type that we can "agree to disagree" because you are flat out wrong.

BG would not have run the table against Utah's schedule....as evidence, Toledo and NIU. Utah did not have an NIU-type game. Your whole argument about all the off-field things Utah has going for it can be said about a host of other schools. I mean, who does Wyoming have to compete with in Wyoming? Your whole argument is based on your opinion and perception.

How many Texas players were on Utah's team last year? Are you trying to say that friggin UTAH is not competing for the same players as other schools? Do they have an easier time getting big-time recruits there? An easier time getting local recruits????? Give me a break!!!
florida and california teams get the most help from voters..i garuntee if urbie and the gators are like 11-0 and have been winning by 10-14 points per game on a weaker schedule than osu or michigan and michigan or osu is also 11-0 but beating opponents by 30 a game...florida will be ranked ahead of them. their are biases all over college football and the AP especially for those schools in those states. texas can be thrown in there too.
ask Cal about the pro-california bias. There is no bias against OSU! I remember one year when Toledo opened up by beating Purdue, and both teams spent the next few weeks climbing the polls...Purdue was 21 and Toledo was 22. It was crap. That would NEVER and I mean NEVER happen if it was Ohio State and Purdue. Any bias that exists is between BCS and non-name non-BCS programs. There is no bias in the computer models, and the only trend I have seen is that the best MAC and nonBCS teams (a la Miami last year and yes, Utah) are ranked HIGHER in the computer polls than they are in the human polls. You CAN'T find an anti-Big Ten Bias. There isn't one and I challenge you to prove it even anecdotally!

Utah was weak? Don't make me get out the computer rankings (the ones which are accurate at predicting outcomes.) A computer doesn't care where a team is from. Or conference.

I will find dozens of examples of strong non-BCS teams being ranked higher by computers if you want. In fact - if you can find 3 instances in the pas ten years where a big ten team finished significantly higher in a computer compilation than they did in the human polls, I will do just that.

"Utah is weak" strikes at the heart of this BCS bias people have. Times have changes - we CAN compete. YOU need to change your mind.
