But he willed us to zero MAC championships.
But did win a division championship.
Well humma humma ding ding! That will go down in that annals of great feats in collegiate football...
If a division title is a humma humma ding ding, then what is NO division titles, which is what Omar has.?

As the unoffficial scorekeeper here, I must say that there has been ZERO proved in this now 4+ page thread.

Let Omar make his decision. We all have beliefs of what it will and/or should be. Whatever that decision is, it will be he best decision for Omar and thus the best decision for me.
I back my fellow students and alumni and I want him to succeed.

I knew you were the official something or other, but scorekeeper wasn't the noun that came to mind.

***RANT WARNING***

Post by CapitalFalcon »

And another thing...Am I the only one on this board that is sick of talking about the future? Sick of talk about all the talent we have and how that talent "can/should/will" produce in said future? I for one am tired of all the woulda, shoulda, coulda talk. I want to see us win something!

I want to see us beat good teams! I want us to run the table and win the MACC. I want us to be a perennial favorite of the conference! I want us to develop the Conference Swagger Marshall once had. I many times feel we have that swagger, yet, when you look under the hood, we don’t have the wins to back it up. I want us to actually beat good OCC teams. I want to quit saying that we have a great record against the Big Ten or BCS teams.

Face it…We beat the inferior teams of those conferences such as Northwestern and Missouri. And so help me, if one of you brings up Purdue…That’s another thing I’m tired of hearing bantered about. Every time someone brings up how we can’t beat good teams, some Falcon Apologist brings up the freakin’ Purdue game. We won by one point, not to mention that fact that we ran for a safety to protect the lead. Granted, it got us the W, but come on…I wouldn’t exactly say that was a storied way to end the ball game. It’s almost as bad as the way the Basketball team beat Virginia Tech.

Anyway, I will always support my Falcons. And I will always root for them no matter WHO they play. But I am not going to be a fan that goes through life with orange tinted glasses. We had the potential to be the BCS buster this year, but it didn’t happen. An next year, no matter how much we analyze what games we “can” win or we “should” win, it doesn’t count for Jack Sheit until our boys play it on the field.

If last August, I came on this board and said that we were going to get smoked by Western 45-14, I would have been a laughing stock! But it happened. So I think everyone just needs to chill-out and quit calling other folks out for not supporting the team when we voice our concerns, anger, and/or frustration.

True...And he also got the S**T beat out of him TWICE by Miami in the same season.
Yep...That Miami team beat a lot of ggod teams that year. Are we going to say that the 2003 team wasn't good because it lost to a top ten team twice?

They did beat Purdue that year.....Oh, I forgot, you only want to consider evidence that supports your point of view.

I agree with hammb...Harris was a better college QB than Omar. If I had my choice of guys to take into a game with Toledo, I'll take Josh. Omar is a better pro prospect because he has more raw materials to work with.

I didn't read through this whole thread, but I skimmed it. If I skimmed and inferred correctly, it looks like a number of people were questioning Omar's and Bruce's ability at the next level. My stupid a$$ buddy (Ohio State fan, to qualify) always argued to me that such and such player is not good because they won't play in the NFL. I would take Bruce on this Rocket offense over Jacobs any day. If I'm a GM of an NFL team, I'd draft Omar over Bruce though. I think that Omar is going to have a better chance of sticking in the NFL than Bruce. Bruce has a lot of heart and is a gamer at the college level, but I don't think the UT coaches have done a great job of preparing him for the NFL. Josh Harris was a good quarterback for BG, but I LMAO every time I read your guys' comments about his NFL future (at the time). Omar has loads more NFL potential than Harris ever had. Don't take this as a rip because even if it doesn't look like it, I am talking Omar up. I do think he's got a tough decision to make, but sticking around and receiving your degree will rarely be a bad thing.
UT is listed in the 2004 edition of The Unofficial, Unbiased Guide to the 328 Most Interesting Colleges by Trent Anderson and Seppy Basili as one of the U.S. schools with the “Most Beautiful Urban Campus.”

I guess that dealing with this level of expectations is why coaches get paid the (relatively) big bucks.

I've been trying to argue to some of my Drano drinkers back at the MHT ranch that this season represents another stage in the evolution of the football league to be more like the basketball league -- with more parity and quality depth through the middle of the league and fewer chances for the "big dogs" to run off ten-win seasons. You can't walk into Akron or the Michgans and just expect to win these days, and OU's not that far behind.

Accordingly, I expect to see more posts like this from my guys, you guys, the Rocky worshippers, and the NIU fans over the next couple of years. It sucks for us (especially for moderators) but, in the long run, it could be great for the league.

BTW, the quickest way to stop saying that you have a great record against BCS teams is to start losing to them. Was that your recommendation?

Finally, the next time I see someone who claims to be sane say they want to be like Marshall, I'm gonna do some damage. (Or at least get the gnomes to revive that "Little Huntington on the Prairie" word censor they had up for a while over the summer.) Nobody who likes *college* sports should want to win like that.

Let's not forget, if Urban Meyer were still here, Omar would have already won two Heismans...

Strunk & White's rule #13: "Omit needless words."

To wit: "My Buck-fan buddy . . . ." Four words instead of nine, but the same concept comes through.

I enjoyed the vast majority of your post. I am also sick of saying that we would have done this if everyone was healthy or could have done this if we would use a standard punt formation. The only part of your post that I question is the above reference to the Purdue game. Should we have punted the ball near our own end zone and risk a TD return? I personally loved watching Cole run around the end zone with the Purdue players trying to catch him. I'm curious as to what we should have done to end the game in a "storied way".

You could have had the kid run around the end zone with the ball tucked down the back of his pants then taken the safety by mooning the Purdue defense. People would still be talking about THAT!

But perhaps someone had a different meaning of "storied" in mind.

Don't worry, it's just more proof that you can't please all the people all of the time. I agree that things have not been as peaches and cream as we all hoped/expected... that part is obvious... but to put down one of the top 5-10 wins (arguably) in school history because they took an intentional safety to hold onto the win... that's just silly. Or, as Mike Tyson may say... "ludicrous".

I agree...And I didn't get to see the game, so I don't recall the details specifically. All I remembere dis that it was an intentional safety, which as I was "watching" it on the ESPN game update, I thought was weird.
