Corey said he had a good spot. I dont think it would of made a difference which hash the ball was on in those conditions. After all the timeouts, Seans cleats were caked in mud. He has never probably seen anywhere near conditions like that in his life (I think it might be one of the worst I have ever seen, and im from the area). I dont blame him for the miss at all and I expected him to be a good kicker for us in the future. I do agree that he should have taken a few practice steps during that timeout though, so he knew how it was gonna play out...TG1996 wrote:As long as he was sure he could get OB on that side of the field. It was 4th down and there was :30 left. *Probably* enough time to get everyone out there, set, and snap the ball, but you never know in those conditions... too many variables.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:You can't fault the coaches much for going for a TD in those conditions, but would it have been that hard to run a rollout towards the better half of the field and tell AT just tuck it and run if nobody's open? That way, you're in a better position if the play doesn't work. These are things that even mediocre HS coaches think about in those situations.
That and I'm not entirely sold that the footing was more than marginally better on the left hash than from where we kicked. I remember thinking as I watched things set up about right/left hashmarks, and thought it was going to be a shady proposition regardless, footing-wise.
With that said, I wish him the best and hope he can land somewhere else. Just one more thing we gotta worry bout in the off season though...
i was doing a walk for work in Ashley and overheard someone talking and he said i'm transferring back home to Miami Fl next semester. So i was pretty sure that was Rojas. But i could be wrong. I kinda wanted to stop and talk to him, but I was on a mission looking for someone with loud music... so i guess we'll have to see about him tooFlipper wrote:Rojas is from Miami. It's less than 20 degrees outside. We were 4-8 last year and employed a punt formation that seemed to be designed to hold the other guys to at best a safety off the block instead of giving them a TD on the return.
I'm suprised he hasn't left too.
Go Falcons!

I have to say I'm kind of disappointed in how slighted we've been by those of the Ellis clan. I felt like we welcomed them here and now we're getting the cold shoulder. I don't need to know a reason he left, but maybe just a "Thanks for the hospitality."

The cold shoulder maybe at the request of Sean. Or, it may have been some of the shots taken at Sean by a very puny minority on this board.
Don't know but I'm not going to read too much into it.

Hello,
I apologize if my silence was taken as a slight against anyone in the AZZ.com community. All along this forum was highly supportive of Sean and we both truly appreciate that. From reading the predominately supportive posts I know that you all truly wish Sean the best and I thank you deeply for that from the bottom of my heart.
It was quite difficult and actually painful to watch the events of this season unfold and conclude with Seans decision to leave BGSU. My deep, deep disappointment in the situation and subsequent outcome has many facets, and I did not want to just blast away in knee jerk reaction. I needed to get all of the information I could as well.
Suffice it to say that, given the events of the entire season as they unfolded, and more importantly the manner in which they were handled, caused a steady decline in and ultimately removed any desire Sean had to continue to play football at BGSU. I know what the factors are. You all saw what happened on the field and read the newspapers. I tried everything I knew to convince him to push thorugh and that things could get better. He did not see it that way and his view is the only one that really matter since HE is the one living it every day.
The only I question is where someone got the idea that you handle your FRESHMAN KICKER in the manner that this staff did throughout the season. Gentlemen, you don't throw the kid under the bus ANY TIME, publically or privately. Don't they realize that THEY SET THE TONE for how the players view themselves, are viewed by the rest of the team and generally affect (when positive) how they are viewed by the public?? I can tell you that my request for a call has fallen on deaf ears.
Looking back I hope those closest to the situation, who had all the ability and opportunity to affect Sean's outlook every day this season, come to realize how their actions and words (and/or lack of both) highly affected and predominantly lead to a promising and talented kicker deciding that leaving the team was his only option. WHERE IS THE SUPPORT THERE! DID NOBODY THINK THAT SOME POSITIVE ATTENTION TO THESE GUYS WOULD GO A LONG WAY?! ESPECIALLY TO KICKERS FOR GODS SAKE WHOS JOB REQUIRES A POSITIVE MINDSET TO BE EFFECTIVE!!
Of course it was Sean's decision to leave and it ultimately his responsiblity. He is saddled with the final decision. I know that given the situation and his mindset in the end, Sean made the best decision for him. The facts show that many other players fealt the same over the past few weeks and took similar action. I truely feel that Sean had almost no choice in the end and I support him fully.
I wish the supporters of Falcon Football, the remaining players and those who have left the program the best of luck in the future in all aspects of their lives.
Thanks again AZZ members for your support. I'll continue to check my pm here.
