Do you pay attention to h20's posts? It was his typical humor! sheesh.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second." ~~USCHO Poster "BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got." ~~USCHO Poster, AFTER Tech beat us #NeverGiveUp

BG choked its way out of a title game, and thus it didn't deserve to be there. But the fact that BSU choked even bigger in the title game, only underscores the waste that this season was for BGSU. It would have required exactly the kind of bad game BSU had for the Falcons to win. Had the Falcons been able to hold, or even just win one or two of the other horribly blown games they lost at home, then they wouldn't have needed to beat UB. Again, that BGSU didn't, only underscores the waste that was the past year.
GB is gone, and this game only makes it clear he should be.
Had he been able to run the program better, had the team been even marginally more focused, this could have been a CHAMPIONSHIP season.
Instead, it was just another wasted year and justifiably the man at the top is gone.
UB earned a title, if BSU choked, it doesn't change the fact that the Bulls were able to make use of the gifts they were given. I will agree, their defense was totally focused every single play, and I can't recall not seeing every defender jamming hand, fist, foot, elbow, shoulder, and head into the ball. And that paid massive dividends.
I admire what the folks at SUNY-Buffalo have been able to do out there. They've created an entire fully functionally and well run division 1 athletics program.

I'll try to be better- I seem to be losing my touch lately- lots of angry Falcons in my wake. Either I'm developing a nasty edge or folks are touchy these days. I think its the whole coach anxiety thing we're all going through...
We were not a mediocre football team. You can point to the 6-6 record and say that we were mediocre, but that analysis is too supericial to capture the essence of the team. The wins against Pitt and Wyoming and the excellent halves against Boise State, Kent State and Buffalo demonstrated that this team was capable of playing really good football.
The losses to Miami. EMU and the five minute meltdown against Buffalo are inidcations that this team was pretty bad...near the bottom of NCAA bowl series bad.
So...we were either a really bad team capable of playing like an elite team or we were a really good team that simply couldn't be bothered to play to it's potential. I tend to think that the latter scenario plays out more frequently in sports (and life in general), so I'm going to go with that one.
Plug the right coach in and 2009 could be a lot like 1991....
So far as Buffalo goes...to suggest that they aren't worthy champions is asinine...they won the game, they get the title. I don't see how you can get more cut and dried than that.
