I get the feeling this was on BG more than Griffith. He committed before Bainbridge and Loeffler seemed really high on Owen after that. I would guess Griffith was essentially told to find a new school.
I actually had the feeling some of those P5 offers played into this decision, that's just a guess. I do know former BG WR Ryan Burbrink is Sr. Frances Academy's pass game coordinator, so he probably had a role in BG's part in his recruitment. I know kids decommit all the time and this isn't new news, I just wonder what happened. We'll probably never know.

Griffith's tweet seems to indicate it was his decision. Either way, you always want to take one QB per class and Bainbridge obviously fills that need.

Well... tomorrow (2/2) is the "real" Signing Day. Any ideas of anyone we might add to the class?

Most likely announce the transfers who have come in. I'm unaware of any high school recruits who will be signing tomorrow, but there always be a surprise or two.

Long snapper Macguire Moss's LOI has come in this morning. Looks like he's pretty highly rated from LS camps and his teacher just so happened to be Neal Dahlman who was the long snapper all four years I was at BG. Good dude.

New commit for 2022, 6’4” 220lbs TE Harold Fannin. First team All-Ohio out of McKinley as a safety but also played WR and TE. Had some academic troubles so wasn’t recruited but got it together with As and Bs this year.

Great recruit and high praise from the coach. And just for the hell of it, I want to see a set where a TE lines up as a wildcat QB and the 5 eligible receivers are all TEs. Just to say it can be done. Unlimited blocking schemes there.

That's funny to think about. If any team could find a way to make that happen, this one could.

Believe it or not, we are still not done recruiting more TE’s even after this….

I understand that the general consensus around here is that we have too many TEs on the roster. Currently, I see 9 listed on the active roster, assuming I counted right.

Ryan Day at Ohio State was asked a question this spring about his ideal way of building a roster of 85, and he said it would have 6 scholarship tight ends.

The Buckeyes don’t run *too much* of the 2-tight end set that seems to be our base offense, so wouldn’t it make sense that we would want a few more bodies to fill the expended use of TEs in our offense? Also, can we assume that some of the 9 aren’t on scholarship - meaning some are camp/practice bodies, which every program has?

Genuinely would like to know. It feels like all we ever do is get guys to be tight ends, but maybe it’s less weird than we think it is?

You can probably assume some of those "TEs" are going to be converted over to DL or LB. Kendall Montgomery comes to mind as a player who was recruited here as a TE and then made the switch to DL, and wound up turning that into an short stint in the NFL. They can be a versatile group, especially if they play both plays in high school.

Considering many of our game day sets actually put RB,s in the slots, we waste a lot of roster spots on TE’s , IMHO. They are converting more players TO TE, not the opposite. Kinsey and Bench come to mind.

Right, this is what I was thinking. It made sense to me with Kinsey with his size and body type. Bench seemed like an effective DL that they still transitioned to TE. This new recruit, in fact, was predominately a safety (which, WOW a 6'4" 220 safety would be scary) and WR in high school and is coming in as a TE.

We have too many TEs, bottom line. I'd much rather use some of those scholarships on some track athlete WRs like a Scotty Miller or Ronnie Moore to add some depth to the offense.

6-4 220? Why isn't he playing OLB? We already have about 10 TE's
