Crushing...slug in the guts loss. Kind of a loss that can tank a season if you let it
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Absolute failure to change anything up when it was clear that we couldn't keep passing down field. You have an elite running QB on ice on the bench but you were too scared to use him.
I'd love to see Bazeleks stats. After a certain point he just couldn't do anything.

Only got 3 plays with 24 seconds left. Defense needed to spy the qb more because he clearly wasn't making great passes and we should have had more than one timeout
Three straight one score losses

27/36 (75%) for 303 yards and 2 TD with a pick. He wasn’t the issue. The biggest problem is that we couldn’t run the ball and we couldn’t get timely stops on D.Globetrotter wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 8:26 pm Absolute failure to change anything up when it was clear that we couldn't keep passing down field. I don’t think begging for the 3rd string QB is the answer, either. It would’ve been nice to have a better WR room for this year, but only so much you can do when a talented guy like RJ Garcia hasn’t played yet this year. We knew it was the weak point, and that has exacerbated it.
Bleacher Creature. BGSU '20.

Bazelak could have walked for a first down on that play. He is either badly injured or scared to death to try using his legs for first downs. He had several opportunities tonight. So if he is injured why wouldn’t Anderson get some touches?Falconwriter wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 8:25 pm At one point BG had something like a 2nd and 3 near midfield and SL calls for a pass play. Bazalak gets sacked and BG ends up punting. Why would you not just try and run the ball twice there to get the first down?
Terrible situational awareness by the coach, because he knew his team was in a dogfight.

He was the issue. After the TD he went 6-10 for 44 yards with an interception and a fumble and was sacked twice. Held on the ball far too long. Something was off for him after that TD by Fannin.mbenecke wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 8:31 pm27/36 (75%) for 303 yards and 2 TD with a pick. He wasn’t the issue. He had 250 yards at the 11:34 mark of the 3rd quarter and 44 yards the next 26 minutes. And the coach just kept putting him back in the same situation.

Re: vs. Old Dominion (9/28)
Horrid loss. Outcoached, undisciplined at key points. Really disappointing. One of the worst losses of Loeffler's time here.

Re: vs. Old Dominion (9/28)
Coaching to the standard. The standard is atleast he is not Mike Jinks.
Re: vs. Old Dominion (9/28)
Another note we don't really blitz at all. I know the line is the strength of the unit but it has been conservative this year and I thought we would turn it up more against a backup qb
Re: vs. Old Dominion (9/28)
I never had a good feeling about this one. Still don’t lol
Re: vs. Old Dominion (9/28)
Too much talk here about the passing game. It was fine. The real problem, 33 carries for 96 yards. With Terion that’d be a disappointing game if we played Georgia, it’s absolutely unacceptable against ODU. Give them credit, but sheesh this year has 7-5 all over it. I’m still shocked how bad our run game was

ODU has some big guys up front, and they loaded the box frequently. Not really a surprise. It's evident outside of Fannin that there is a lack of playmaking ability in the pass game. Really annoying that you hold the ball for almost 40 minutes, only score 27 points, and only out gain the opponent by 60-some yards. A lot of self-inflicted wounds tonight and you have to hope it's cleaned up before conference play.Bgsu2016 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 10:09 pm Too much talk here about the passing game. It was fine. OL is fine, QB is normally fine, RB is fine. D is fine
Play calling is bad and WRs don't seem to be getting open.

Re: vs. Old Dominion (9/28)
They may, but we were completely shut down. Terion had 20 carries for 67 yards. I give Connor credit honestly for playing that well with absolutely no ground game. I’m a bit concerned how easily our offense was shut down if I’m being honest, if it wasn’t for Connor and Harold we’re blown outjpfalcon09 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 28, 2024 10:15 pm ODU has some big guys up front, and they loaded the box frequently. Re: vs. Old Dominion (9/28)
21-38 in his career. Maybe Bowling Green has a coach who just isn’t good enough to be anything better than a .500 coach at his best. Maybe part of coaching is more than just losing close or “they made one more play than we did”. Raise the standard. 21-38 and who knows how many of those wins are an against FCS teams and trash like Kent St. and Akron. At 21-38 Loeffler would be long long gone if Mike Jinks had never come to town.
