Jim Hofher...
lmao. do you guys do this with every coach? or just because hofher is so bad? here, you guys might like this. this came right off buffalo's board..
good stuff lol
Our coach is quotable. Not in the Ali fashion, the Spurrier fashion or even the Lou Holtz fashion. Our coach is quotable because he says some darned strange things. Kind of like a plumber standing in front of a plumbing leak saying, "You know...you really need to get a plumber in here to fix this."
At any rate, I've started this thread so we can laugh (and cry) at some of your favorite Hofher quotes during the years. Feel free to "reinterpret" them. I'll start it out.
After yesterday's loss, Hofher had this to say:
"Western Michigan brought the tempo to the game," Hofher said. "Simply a game of too little, too late. I challenged them in the locker room at halftime to come out with a tempo that would keep us in the game. We came out and played well in the second half, but it was just too little, too late."
Let me re-write these quotes:
"For some reason, I just don't know why, the guys continue to come out flat every week. It can't be the coaching, though. In fact, I challenged them at half time to play better and they did a lot better, but we were so far in the hole from a bad first half that we couldn't catch up. However, I really did a great job in that second half. Did you see that second half?"
----------------------------------------
Hofher's latest gem following the latest loss to Akron:
"I think as a coach what I'm going to be able to take out of this game . . . is that the players showed tremendous energy from the start. They competed like crazy. There's something to build from if they'll be willing to build from it."
Let me rewrite those quotes:
"The Homecoming atmosphere, including Uncle Rico and Pedro, gave the players a lot of life in the first half. However, for some unknown reason that no one will ever be able to find out, we just didn't execute properly in the second half. It certainly wasn't the coaching, however, and if the players are willing to try the rest of the season, things might go better. Did I say that it was not on me but on my players? I just wanted to make sure you all understood that since we'll only get better if they are willing to get better".

...gets pissed when people think he's former Browns head coach Jim Shofner.
"I don't believe I can name a coach, anywhere, anytime, anyhow, who did it better than Doyt Perry."

it's cool. people new to the boards don't normally catch onto the opposing team coach's thread without a little prompting. Your posts actually were rather amussing. I didn't mean any malice torward you or anything (other than the normal BG is going to beat UB type thing
)
