Guess it's time to change the coach. Oh, not BG's 'way'. What's this year 2 of 5?

HoopsFan
Today was clear - he's going down with Morgan and he's not gonna change. The only way J-No (he's not J-Mo anymore) isn't playing is if he get hurt. We're riding a 30%-something QB to the finish.

hammb, almost every point you said I said to my wife just now. It is going to be a total build job to get back to MAC dominance and I have zero confidence Jinks is the guy to do it. Barring a total turnaround, I think we need a new coach soon.

And Jinks said they don't want to burn Doege's redshirt so he's available in future years. Jinks has no guarantee to be here in future years. For his own good, he should play Doege.

I'm going to to other things this fall and not get so emotionally invested in BG football. Hiking? Yes please. Bike rides? Yes please. Octoberfest? Can we do that every day? I'm making a conscious decision not to let BG football ruin my fall.

The QB has stunk it up, but he was far from the biggest issue tonight. Lines were dominated by a 1aa team on both sides of the ball.

The coach is a much bigger issue.

Yep. Outscored, outgained, out-first downed, lost the turnover battle badly and were outclassed both on the field and on the sidelines.

Got a couple projects to complete around the house and then on the road. Gotta leave the game as soon as it's over and back to the German Family Society as Dana and the boys will be enjoying Oktoberfest and I am their Uber driver. I will make up for it Sunday from noon til 7 at Oktoberfest. :)

BG 41, SD 20.
Freak, sorry you left your family for this debacle. You do realize however it's Septemberfest!!

If our AD is smart, not even then.

Jinks deserves more time to turn this around. He doesn't have the horses right now, and he seems to be recruiting well.

He takes over a program coming off 3 straight Mac title game appearances, with 2 championships, and he doesn't have the horses to stay within 2 scores of a 1aa team!? LMAO, ok.

Look, I realize we're stuck with him so the best we can hope for is he DOES figure it out, but he deserves nothing. We shouldn't be in the business of hiring people who need to learn for years how to coach football. Not much we can do about it at this point but I disagree entirely with your stance. If we could afford to, we absolutely should get rid of him. He's done nothing to earn his job and even less to give hope that he's going to turn this thing around.

Agreed. He was handed the keys to a shiny new car last year and drove it straight into a tree. This year he took that smashed up car to the repair shop and the garage collapsed on it. It's his mess, and only he can clean it up. The question is can he and will he? Right now it looks like he has no clue how to.

We have two big money games this year and three in some coming years. We should be able to buy out Jinks.

I never called for Brandon to be fired. I stuck with Clawson even after being shut out by VT. But I've seen enough of Jinks. He inherited a great program needing to find some new stars and now look where we are. We are where we were in 2010. I do not have confidence at all he is the guy to build a program. He and the staff are all in over their heads.

We should hire another FCS up and comer next year. We need to ditch the up tempo and hire another Clawson.

Aside from the complete mess we are as a team, I have to take my hat off to South Dakota. They 100% completely earned this win. This was not a fluke, and this wasn't even an upset IMO. I hate to admit it but the better team won and if we played again I'd expect the same kind of result. They were better in nearly all phases of the game. We know how good it feels to beat Power Five teams, and I'm guessing it feels similar for an FCS team to beat a Group of Five program. Well done.

Friend, those pay days are going towards things to keep us afloat. None of that is going towards a buyout of Jinks.

Yes. That's what I think. Mike Jinks is paying for the sins of Dino Babers.

True, Babers didn't believe in defense... or recruiting... but we just gave up 500 yards to an FCS opponent. Babers might be responsible for who's on the team, but he's not conditioning, training, and coaching them anymore. I understand coaches need a few years to fully adjust and bring in the right players for their systems, but in the meantime, are wins over teams we pay to play against really too much to ask for?

Ok I will give a positive spin:
Yes we lost to a FCS school for the first time in a while. What MAC has not (this in an assumption without research, but every school has a down year)
That first quarter we lost the game, BUT the first score was helped by two suspect pass interference calls
The second was after a terrible call when we were not awarded a touchdown and or a down at the one. I was sitting at the end zone line in the east side and the ball broke the plan!
The third was after the botched kickoff return.
The fact of the matter is we all want the next Urban, who was the WR coach at ND. Who is that current position coach? Anyone?
Point being we have no clue which random assistant coach is gonna be the next "amazing hire" maybe we missed on this hire? But at the end of the day we have won two conference titles in the last 3 years and no other school can say that!
I hate losing, but for all the love we heap on the previous coaches, they won nothing of merit. Not Brandon, not clawson and not even Saint Urban.
I will continue to watch and cheer for them and hope for the best. Which I am not sure is that far away.
