Barring injury, McDonald is your QB next year too. No one on current roster will get a shot over him.

I think at this point, Loeffler is married to McDonald. Reminds me a lot of 2011-12 with Clawson and Schilz. Going to take something pretty damning to force Scot's hand.
I mentioned this above but I think it’s the right call with this roster. He’s playing really hard and I don’t know that the goal is to flat out win the MAC this year. It was more about progress, continuing to build, doing things the right way. I think Loeffer feels McDonald is the guy for that, and I think I’m okay with that.
Yeah. I don't get it. Replacing a very steady QB who has worked really hard. That's an idea someone has who just watched college football for one year and has never seen what truly terrible QB play does to a team.
There's a lot you don't get...McDonald is improved...but he is anything but "steady".

Funny, I for one, and a few of us thought that his delivery is much improved….. but first thing a friend of mine said watching us for the first time was “ your QB has a F’d up motion… looks like he’s throwing a baseball”….

I think both things are true. His motion is much better and quicker, but it still does look like a pitcher’s throw.

McDonald is both improved and flawed - as with a lot of parts of this program.

Day by day, man. I still feel confident that we're getting better. On Saturday, we have a chance to be .500 (3-3) halfway through the season for the first time in a long time. Let's get that dub and keep climbing the mountain.

This. Falcons are passing the eye test as far as improvement goes. I think after five games, we can say this isn't the worst program in the conference at the moment, and certainly not in the bottom 15 or 20 programs in the country.

I finally got a chance to watch the game and four thoughts really stuck with me.
1. I've been to a few Kent State games. But there was something at this game that I've never seen before at a Kent State football game. Kent State fans. Normally for BG games that stadium is Doyt Perry east. Sean Lewis and his exciting style is generating serious interest.
2. Penalties. Just awful. And for example, our first drive had TD written all over it. But due to penalties, we settled for a FG. That is four missed points. On the ensuing drive we stopped Kent on fourth down, but a questionable roughing the passer penalty extended the drive and they got a FG. That is a 7 point swing due to penalties, in a 7 point game.
3. Nate Needham should be MVP for the season.
4. The game was never more than one possession. Who saw that coming after the last two years?

Overall a real disappointing ending but also something to build upon. A win would have given a 1-0 start and a head to head against perhaps the most serious divisional team. Now we are in a hole. So if there becomes a chance to win the east late in the season, this L will loom large. And yet something to build upon because this game should have been won. Honestly this team could be 4-1. Let that drive the team to continually improve.
MarkL has spoken.
You may all now return to your daily lives.

McDonald is what he is. Good arm...can scramble a bit, but he has that wonky motion that gets a lot of balls batted down at the line, or they flutter or sail on him at the worst possible times.
