He doesn't have our analysis listed yet, but he only has us ranked #7 out of 12. Guess we should drop that Minnesota game....

I can safely say that I've seen a rollercoaster of results varying from BG having the top class in the MAC to about 8th or 9th. It does make for interesting reading, however, I try not to take it to heart. If Coach B got the players he wanted, then I'm satisfied! Go Falcons! How many days until Spring practice starts?

Based soley on this one guy's opinion, I think we should just cancel our football membership in the MAC and apply for a membership in the Gateway Conference.

Not sure what we'll do if Indiana State starts whuppin' on us...

well, if it's any indication of this guy's prognostication, he had marshall twice, western, and ucf twice as top recruiting classes from 1999-2003. look how that's worked out for those guys. i buy this guy's opinions less than other sites, which i don't much buy into.

Now what would you all expect from a UT guy......read the cold facts and leave it to your own opinions, because his are basically worthless.

Vandelay is very good at reporting and commenting on the MAC.

He has never really been consistant with his objectivity, however.

I've always appreciated the work that Vandelay puts into covering the MAC - Lord knows more people should. That being said, I've never been too impressed with the site's future analyses. I'd give the site a few more years of growth before it becomes truly reputable in this area.

Given the talent in our recruiting class - including the TOP RATED PUNTER IN THE COUNTRY - there is no way that many schools should be ranked ahead of us in recruiting. I'll be interested to see our page once it is up.

Just a couple of weeks ago, with no major changes in between, Vandelay was calling our class one of the best in the MAC.

Consistency is fantastic. Not that it matters what any site, including the one that has us ranked #1, says about MAC recruiting.

Looking at Akron's class it does seem that they did recruit some studs. One of their recievers was 6' 5" 205 pounds. I have know idea how fast he is but that is some definite size as a wideout. They also had a couple of DL recruits with some size that I think Falcon Boy would drool over. According to this website they had some pretty highly ranked players in the nation and their perspective states! I think 10 recruits from Florida too! Wow! Their class does seem pretty impressive, however, since there hasn't been really any complete analysis on our entire group, I can't say if theirs seems better than ours or not.

Doesn't really surprise me that you made those comments. That seems typical from you. That "UT guy" has only rated UT as having the #1 class in the MAC once in all the years he has rated MAC recruiting classes, since 1999.. In 2005 he had Akron and NIU rated higher, and UT rated at the same level as 3 other MAC schools.

In 2004 he did rate Toledo the best, with Marshall and Bowling Green also listed at outstanding.

In 2003 he had Toledo rated 5th in the MAC.

He has Toledo rated 3rd this year.

If he was trying to play the "UT guy" role, he would have Toledo rated higher and probably in the top 2 or 3 every year.

I'm gonna have to agree with RF on that. Nick tries very hard to be objective and as an alum of neither UT nor BG I do not favor one or the other. I think Nick does a pretty good job of NOT being partial towards Toledo, but like any true fan, there is a slight bit of favoritism. That having been said, rating them in the upper half of the MAC would be accurate b/c they have consistently proven it on the field.

As for UCF having those two top classes in 2002 & 2003, I believe a few of them were kicked off the team and the 0-11 season would have in '04 when the oldest of those players would have been sophomores. They did go to a bowl game and played in the C-USA Championship in 2005. And Marshall wasn't too bad while they were in the MAC too!

Do you have some sort of alarm that notifies you when someone is critical of Nick or his site?

I think it's hard-wired to the alarm that goes off in rf's house when anything remotely concerning Toledo is brought up. :)
