At least to start, it appears that Coach Brandon is better at answering these questions than Coach Meyer. If he starts saying "that's silly" we will know we are in trouble.

The athletic director at UNLV apparently is looking for a coach with a California connection. I don't know how Brandon's name got into this.

darn you guys, I was gonna post this!
Yeah, it sounded more like they wanted a guy with Cali(sooner?) ties if possible, but not the primary characteristic. I dont think GB will be going anywhere soon. A few more seasons like we've been having and they'll make him president of the university.
Las Vegas paper says Brandon is INTERESTED

They are making him out to be one of the top two candidates!

So, did Brandon became a candidate for the Nevada-Las Vegas job before or after Friday's debacle?
Seriously: Brandon doesn't strike me as a Sin City kind of guy. I'm not saying the rumor is wrong.
He grew up in Colorado, I think. One has to wonder whether the West would appeal to him.
We gotta grow this program to the point where we aren't getting poached by other non-BCS schools. This sucks. I mean, Bowling Green is a better program than Wyoming in every way... yet Urban Meyer still flew out there.

Let's just hope he doesn't say he's staying and leave the next week. If he leaves and tells us up front with good reasoning, I will be alright with that.

I actually think the West would be very appealing to Coach Brandon. He grew up in Colorado. Has coached in Colorado, Arizona, Utah, Northwestern and here. If you think about it, he is much more of a Western guy then he is a BG type. I could definitely see him checking this out.

Thinking, hypothetically, five steps ahead:
If Brandon were to go, we have two good candidates in Stud and Beckman, seems to me.
If one is picked, it's possible we could lose the other.
But I think either one would be very interested in making a long term committment to BGSU. Stud bleeds orange... and isn't Beckman a Findlay native? (Or am I thinking of someone else?)

Beckman is actually from Berea, but his wife is from Findlay (her daddy was a bigwig at Cooper Tire and Rubber down there).
IF Brandon were to go, I think Beckman would be the choice. He's the assistant head coach and was in the running the last time.
Of course, Brandon is staying so this thread is for naught.

I just started a new thread to post speculation about a replacement. But in regards to Beckman and Stud, don't you think that Brandon would try to take either or both of them with him? Post replies in the other thread and we can keep this one for discussing the possibility of Brandon leaving.

Brandon is one step ahead of Meyer. If this was brought up when Urban was here, his response would have been something like "I love Bowling Green and I will be here until we get this program to the next level, blah, blah, blah." At least Coach Brandon brushed it aside and said this is not an appropriate time to ask the question. That is how a coach should handle this.
Do I think he'll leave for UNLV? I didn't think Urban would leave for Utah, so who knows. I am sure he'll listen if they talk. If they offer the type of money that Urban got from Utah, he probably will hit the road. I found it interesting he is being consider among three other coaches (Sndyer, Solich, Neuheisal) who have had some pretty good success at the highest level of college football. I would imagine GB's price tag won't be as high as those three guys. Would it be smart for a school in LAS VEGAS to hire Rick Neuheisal (not sure if I'm spelling that correctly). I have a feeling that will NOT happen.

I hate to say it guys, but "that is not an appropriate question in the fourth week of the season" is a non-denial denial.
That and "that rumor has no basis in fact" is a nice way of saying "they haven't actually asked yet".
I hope it's not true. I hate seeing MAC programs simply being used as stepping stones to other jobs.

Gotta be careful with your "GB" references. GB=Gary Blackney AND Gregg Brandon.
