Who is Brandon's successor if he leaves?

Post by Warthog »

Just looking ahead here to see what could happen if Coach Brandon did move on to UNLV. Who might be some candidtates to replace him?

Off Coor Stud? He is a BG alum, and came back here to coach after having other opportunities. Do you think he would be a good head coach?

Def Coor Beckman? He is young. But given that the defense has not been our strength, seems like we would go for a offensive oriented guy.

Jerry Glanville? This may sound a bit crazy. But he grew up in Perrysburg, has coaching experience, would be "celebrity-type" coach that would draw fans just for the coach, was head coach at Houston and Atlanta when they used the "run and gun" offense which has ties to the offense we use, but he is actually a defensive specialist. Lot of interesting qualities there.

Anybody else you would think of?

Studrawa would be the man. He turned down a rumored $100,000+ offer from O'Leary down at UCF to coach the OL. I don't think he would have done that if he didn't think he had greater career prospects in the near future. Two fo the higher profile recruits form last year, Turner and Briggs, came out of Studrawa's recruiting area (Dayton/Cinci)

Of course, that wouldn't precluse Krebs from looking elsewhere

If Stud got the job, maybe he could bring fellow Fostoria native Derek Kidwell on his staff.

He could bring Kidwell in just so he could quit the team again.

I like the Glanville idea, even though he strikes me sort of a bozo.

He could be our June Jones... or he could be our Gerry Faust.

If I'm the OC we're canning this spread crap and becoming a power running team. Gimme some hogs up front and some speed at TB. I wanna do to others what NIU did to us, its the most demoralizing thing in football. You do that to a team for 3 quarters and you break their will to compete. THen you just walk over 'em in the 4th quarter.

My offense is more of a west coast style with a single back. Gimme 2 TEs, 1 RB, and 2 WR. I want my WRs to have speed and stretch the field so I can take shots deep off play action. I also expect my tailback to be adept at catching the ball out of the backfield.

YAC YAC YAC...that is another key...

Personally, I would like to see a fullback instead of two TEs. But that's just me.

hammb:

That's why you're my OC. That's EXACTLY the type of offense I love! I'm betting Freak would like a swarm-to-the-ball approach that forces a lot of turnovers!
