He will absolutely tear the MAC up. The league has never seen a player like this guy. The person who might recognize his talent best is Frank Solich at OU......Williams is as close to Johnny Rogers as it gets.

I predict fellow Benedictine grad Jahmal Brown will have a bigger impact on the MAC than Williams.I'll be surprised if Williams is still around in a couple years. See Clarett, Maurice

I'm not sure about that one, newbie. Even if Williams does get a decent amount of playing time, he'll likely be splitting it with Parmele, Collins, and McDougle at the least. I know that he is a great player, but I know that at least two of the aforementioned three are also great running backs.

Personally, I'd like to see him playing in mop-up duty or maybe in the second half. Quinton Broussard was the third or fourth string running back this past season (depending upon the game) and when they'd bring him in during the third or fourth quarter, he was known to rip off a 20, 40, or 60 yard run. My point is that the Rockets are very deep at this position and his chances for greatness should be different than if he were playing for most other teams where he would be the go-to guy. Amstutz has said that Jalen Parmele will be playing in the NFL in a couple of years and said that he's of the Chester Taylor talent level. I've watched him play and as a true freshman, my first thought was that he's going to be a good one. He's got two years left as does McDougle and Collins has four years left. I don't see any of these guys riding the pine no matter how good Williams is.

Also, one of UT's strengths is their ability to interchange RBs depending upon the defense and also to keep fresh legs in against a worn-down defense. However, I would love to see Williams playing "mop-up" duty but in that case, I think the Rockets would be less likely of being accused of running up the score if they were to pass the ball.

I wouldn't say that screen passes are an extension of the running game because they are part of the passing game, but outside of shovel passes, they are the closest to it in the play book. Why do you ask?

You got that right. I've never seen a program with more quality RBs.

I would just like to add, I played against him as a Junior in the playoffs. He is just that good.

Auburn 2001 was much better, they had Brandon Jacobs then

USC last year is also better than Toledo. I don't think Toledo will ever have two first round RB's in the same class like Auburn and USC have had.


If we're talking mid-majors only, Boise and Fresno have had some pretty good stables in recent history. Toledo has some good backs, but I don't think they're anywhere near the best in the country by any stretch of the imagination.

i really dont think that ray williams will have a big impact on UT. First off, he hasnt played football in a while. He's not smart enough to be able to stick on the team. He'll do something to get himself kicked off or suspended from the team. Even if he is able to stay on the team, he wont getting enough playing time to really make an impact. He will be playing behind Scooter McDougle and all there other running backs UT seems to have every year. So i'm not really worried about Ray Williams. just yet.

I was thinking Williams might remind Solich more of Lawrence Phillips. Those two seem to have more in common.
