Between Now and the Time Krebs Leaves

The retiring UNM AD is set to retire on Aug 31. It has been stated that Krebs may assume the AD post in June. I suppose all this could change.
But here's the question--What should Krebs try to accomplish before he leaves BG?
I think it would help tremendously if he could get a new Convocation Center announced and a fundraising drive started.
Then, the new AD could come in with at least the following projects underway: the Sebo Center, the new Convocation Center, and I've read about some other projects. e.g., a new lockerroom for baseball and softball.
That's what I'm hoping Krebs can do before he leaves. Also, he might be able to finish off some scheduling contracts.
If these things could be accomplished, I think Krebs could leave as the AD who set the table for raising the level of BG sports to an unprecedented level.

I don't know if I agree. That's a big decision with many variables. A lot of the nuance of getting it right might be better made by someone with some years under his/her belt.
Still, it's so big, it seems properly deferred for the next guy -- kinda like a major coaching change.

I see him that way, already.

I know this is a football thread. But Dan Dakich is going to need to impress the new AD rather quick for him to keep his job. Just a gut feeling. New ADs want to make their mark and probably have 'their guy' waiting by the phone for the chance to showcase his skills.

Knowing his hiring prowess, I would want PK to replace himself.

Traditionally, there's a fundraising jolt following a new AD hire based on the honeymoon factor, particularly if it's someone completely new.
The profile of recent MAC AD hires is interesting: young to middle-aged number 2 men at BCS athletic departments (except for Akron, who hired a guy from UTEP)
Ohio: Kirby Hocutt (Associate AD/Oklahoma)
CMU: Dave Heeke (Associate AD/Oregon)
UB: Warde Manuel (Associate AD/Michigan)
BSU: Tom Collins (Associate AD/Arizona State)
EMU: Derrick Gragg (Associate AD/Arkansas)
Akron: Mack Rhoades (Associate AD/UTEP)

That is EXACTLY the type of guy that I'd like to hire. It's asking a lot for a MAC school to have a long term tenure with any top notch administrator or coach. While stability would be awesome, it is unlikely if we get somebody who is among the best at his profession, due to our budget.
With that in mind I'd prefer to always hire the young go getters who are likely using us as a stepping stone, but are still very motivated to do an outstanding job in order to eventually move on. Then I'd follow that hire with another young go getter that is motivated to be at the top of his profession.

It's definitely hammb, but I gotta admit you lost me on the falconfan1 reference...do my views on the subject mirror his?

Basically when all of the talk speculating about UM leaving was going on, he made a post very similar to yours for hiring our next football coach.

Ray at hoopfactor.com had a post a couple weeks ago on this topic. Says you want primarily hungry coaches at the MAC level. You don't want Waters--who is going the wrong way. You want somebody who will drive 8 hours to an open gym.
