New sports Wiki looking for our help.

Post by ZiggyZoomba »

Give it a look... it's a pretty cool site and idea. Help them out if you're able!

Hi there:

My buddies and I just started ArmchairGM.com, a sports wiki kind of
like Wikipedia. One of our users is trying to get people together to
form an encyclopedia of college football history.

Given that it's the off-season, I'm sure your readers are chomping at
the bit for something to do, football-wise. Do you think they'd be
interested?

http://www.armchairgm.com/mwiki/index.p ... ry_Project

That's the direct link. Please take a moment to look at that and at
our site in general, and let me know what you think.

Thanks!

I'm serious!

from 3/7/2006, 12:37pm:

TG: I'm currently in a feverish email exchange with the creator of ArmchairGM.com (of which I'm now a contributor), a guy who went to HS with former BG backup tight end Walter Regula. Small world, eh?

ZZ: Interesting. I got that email too.... ignored it.

And *now* he wants to be ArmchairGM's friend. I just don't get it!!!

(It really is a pretty cool site, though. I've updated a few of the BG pages so far, working on more.)

What the hell is a "Wiki" anyway? Is it someting other than the way Elmer Fudd says "Rickey"?

It is basically an open-ended encyclopedia. People sign onto the project, and update various pages based on their research and such. The attraction to the Wikis is in the wide range of information you can find. The down side is that anybody can and does edit the information. This leads to people spamming entries, and creating others for their own gain.

I thought it was Australian slang for something.

It is, but that can't be published here. And I am ALL over that Wiki!
