The official BGSU page states that the Falcons will have FIVE home games in 2006, which includes the matchup with Wisconsin at Cleveland.

2006 Home: Miami, Eastern, Buffalo, Kent, Wisconsin.

I can't find an old schedule (pre Boise cancellation), that states how many home games we were to have as of a few months ago. Was it six or was it five?

I'm assuming that with the announcement of the 2006 home schedule as part of the season ticket news, that the as-yet-scheduled Boise replacement game won't be at home? Correct?

Somewhere around here was a lengthy thread about this. After six or seven pages, I believe we came to a consensus, "I dunno."

You know, the thought of one less home game significantly increases the probability that the popcorn from the first home game will last until the last home game. Although this might finally be the year we finish off the last of the stash of hot dogs from 1995.

No. We sent the remainder of the 1995 hotdogs to Amstutz. We figured he could use them more than our 10,000 fans could.

I think I realize the source of the confusion, at least for me.

On Feb. 28, BGSU issued a news release indicating that the Boise State home game is cancelled for this year. Quoting:

A new Division IA non-conference opponent for BGSU will be announced when the MAC finalizes the league schedule.

Some of us read this to mean we would get another I-A home game. I know I did.

But it doesn't say really home game. It just says I-A game. I didn't notice that before now.

A couple of weeks ago, I asked a certain excellent source about this, I don't think the way I phrased the question clarified where the game would be played. This is my memory:

Me (smiling): "Tell me we're not getting Temple."
Certain excellent source: "It is Temple. At least that's what the MAC office tells us."

At this point, I'm changing my mind, and I apologize for any confusion I may have caused.

Considering our season ticket packages don't even hint at a fifth game at Perry Stadium, it seems very likely that our TBA game may be at Temple.

Let's fill out schedule that already includes a good deal of the worst teams in D1A with one of the few who's actually worse than the bottom of the MAC.

I don't care if we do play 2 Big10 teams, this schedule is not a way to get any respect at all. Boise was a great addition as a game that is not crap, but is still winnable. I like those games.

The only consolation is @ Temple is better than having a 1AA team into the Doyt...

Having calmed down a bit from last week....there are some advantages to "adjusting" the schedule.

The Doyt will be a construction site this year. That presents some liability issues. I can see why the department would take an opportunity to limit their exposure.

The MAC owes us....not sure what that will mean in the long or short run, but we can hold our "flexibility" over some heads.

With all the new talent that needs to be worked in...maybe it's better to wait a year to play Boise. Next year the Sebo Center will be finished, our young defense will be a year older and so will AT (or AG) and we'll be ready to put on a show for ESPN

Playing at Temple could help us in recruiting. Glaud is from Jersey. His top WR is going to go to our camp this summer. If we can build a pipeline there, it could really benefit us because there's a lot of talent in NJ.

Wisconsin is winable. It will be tough this time, with the youth of our team.

But we put up 42 points on 'em last year. We shouldn't be *that* intimidated about this.

Not to mention that Wisconsin is losing Stocco, Calhoun, and their #1 reciever as well, so they are going through the same upheaval as we are pretty much.

Well, OK, that's another perspective. I doubt if the MAC flexibility ever gets us anything--it never seems to--and as for losing Boise, that point I can definitely see....but a home game in its place would be nice.

Finally, I know many disagree with this, but I'd prefer I-AA at home. Its only one game, and I think homes games helps us build a fan base, and we could go 20 years without a I-AA game and it won't help our national respect one bit. But that's just my opinion.

Not in my book.

Granted Temple will probably be better this year and the coming years, but playing them the last two years was basically the same as playing Semo St or EKU. I hate that we bent over for the league and for Ohio.

I just REALLY hate playing the 1AA teams. I go and have fun tailgating, but it's so hard to really get up for the game. There's some excitement if it's the first home game of the year, but it's still tough. I really don't like games that will upset me if we don't win by 40+ points. Temple is real close to being on the downside of that as well.
