All the fans seemed to be pretty big on Magner during his first training camp.

I would say its a little of both. That's the general vibe I got from their board during training camp last season.

I just remember the one monday night preseason game where he muffed the punt so bad I almost wanted to cry!!!

I'd say it's pretty typical of all NFL boards. Every year in training camp there are one or two UDFAs that play well and some people fall in love with them and start pimping them like crazy. Then some other posters come in and remind them that there was a reason why they went undrafted.

Usually the reality is somewhere in the middle. The players are rarely as good as some of them want to believe, but they're rarely as bad as the detractors want to believe.

Hammb, that's right. Same thing happens in the MLB Spring training on boards. There's always some guy who has a hot spring who everybody falls in love with.
