Maybe it is just hype to make them feel better before we play them??? That honestly makes no sense what-so-ever to me. For them to have the same amount as NIU cracks me up!

I just took a look at the poll and didn't see Central, but saw Colorado with 2 votes. Maybe the poll you looked at mistyped the name of a school or something in there. It happens sometimes!

Both espn.com and si.com show CMU with 2 votes in the coaches poll.

but cbs sportsline shows Colorado instead of CMU. CMU must be a typo on the other sources?

May be a typo...

Before I posted, I checked several sources and I could not understand how any team that lost to Indiana and Mich. St., with only 1 win over a 1-A team that is 0-4 against 1-A opponents, could possibly be receiving votes. I have now checked CBS Sportsline and it has the following (no Central Michigan):

Others Receiving Votes: Missouri 46, Virginia Tech 31, Southern Mississippi 30, Fresno State 28, South Carolina 20, Texas A&M 11, Arkansas 9, Boston College 7, Nebraska 7, Stanford 7, UCLA 6, Memphis 5, Iowa 3, Colorado 2, Navy 2, Northern Illinois 2, Kansas State 1, Northwestern 1, Notre Dame 1, Texas Tech 1.
