What is up with moving him (Brandon Curtis) to the offense (per sentinel tribune). He was the only beef we had left on the d line. If we are counting on Freshmen I really wonder. It also said Briggs will be at end - I still think he is too light for an end. Our linebackers stunk. Maybe I'm missing something but I suspect Wisky will be licking their chops.....

I agree with you on both points. Based solely on his measurables and the highlight video, Young looks like he should get significant time this year. I think there were a couple redshirts last year that are supposed to step up this year as well at DT. Briggs and Parks were absolute beasts in the Toledo game. It didn't show up in the stats for Devon because he got held on just about every play, but he was really going against UT. If Briggs continues to improve and Parks brings it every game, I think we may have the best ends in the MAC.Jacobs4Heisman wrote:I think the freshman might be as good or better than anything we put out there last year on the interior DL. Also, Briggs looked extremely good as a rush DE.

Some of the RS freshmen should be ready to play on the interior as well. (Minturn and Ream are on the three deep this spring ) and Brad Williams moves back inside to give the interior that SR leadership Thaler provided last year.
I really like Briggs at DE and I agree that he and Parks are going to give us quite a tandem. I'm looking forward to seeing Frericks and Thoimas James in the spring game. They looked very quick and disruptive in the recruiting videos from 2005.

If Curtis would only be a DT for us that emlimates the need for Brad Willams to be back at DT when he's still only 260. Its very possible that DJ Young could see time. If we dont' get some defensive line resistence agianst the Wisky running game it will be just a replay of last year maybe only worse if our O is a shell of its former self. We need to average a good 285-295 on the D-line this year instead of the usual 255 that we've always been.BGGrad01 wrote:I agree with you on both points. The odds of any team in college football averaging 295 on the Defensive line are insane. NFL teams dont average that.
I think Briggs is going to be a special Falcon. Our D-line could be special by years end. Williams.Young.Briggs and Prks all have special qualities. I expect to see some LBs from our true freshman class in there as well. Lawrence too. Can we redshirt Parks and bring him back next year.
I have a feeling this defense will be special in a year or two.

Yeah , I think we do have some very good DE talent, Parks, Brandon Mack, Williams and the rs fresman coming on. But we need to get the D-line fixed up. You can't have a d-line that gets used like we did last year and expect other parts of the d to work well enough. Our corners could be fantastic , our linebackers could be amazing , but if our d-line isn't up to snuff it won't mean an damn thing.Germainfitch1 wrote:The odds of any team in college football averaging 295 on the Defensive line are insane.
