{Winovich) has become kind of a pseudo-fullback for us and he is playing some running back. He will knock your head off as a blocker. He is really doing a nice job and we are giving him the ball a little bit to test his inside running. He is a load. He is 250 lbs. He brings a different dimension.

Reading between the lines, sounds like Brandon is concerned about our receivers. Outside of Partridge, he basically said "these guys have been with the program for a while." Not exactly high praise.

Notice, too, that he didn not mention Briggs at all and essentially said he is depending on two freshmen (Jackson & Fells) to play a lot right away. That's not encouraging, IMO.

Well, let;s not read too much into that statement. But, the news that a blocking fullback will now be in our backfield as we transition to the running spread is something new. I certainly think it could help on short yardage plays. In the past, the second back was usually misdirection.

Just the idea that such a dimension is being added is big, IMO. Brandon introduced the pony formation last year, now he's adding another wrinkle. I like it, because we've seen a lot of teams have caught on to the basics of the spread. Seems Brandon is heading down the Boise State path offensively - a zillion formations and options, keeping the defense on its toes. I like it. I like it a lot.

I've always liked Winovich and would love for him to find a spot where he can make an impact. Sad to say, he's entering his junior year and the clock is running on his eligibility.

I think he didn't mention Briggs because he hasn't practiced due to injury. Briggs is a DE anyway, so Jackson and Fells won't impact his time.

Briggs broke his foot this winter when he slipped and fell. He is not participating in Spring drills.

Flip: Forget about the injury. I know he played a hybrid position and was hoping Brandon might shed some light on where he might see more time.

I don't really know if we're gonna be adding much bulk up front on the d-line as I originally thought if we're gonna be moving guys like Brad Williams back to DT again which is dumb in my humble opinion. Guys like Williams and Mack need to stay at DE where they have the best chance of succeding on plays. Both Williams and Mack are excellent DE size. I should think that DJ Young should be in the mix at DT or NG in the fall. Curtis should also stay at DT, putting him on the offensive line seems retarded to me.
