A Few Small Improvements at the Doyt

A couple of things about some recent "happenings" at the Doyt:

1) Two signs have been put on the back of the scoreboard. The one at the top reads "Doyt Perry Stadium" and the one on the bottom has the ticket office's phone number. If I had to guess, I'd say a schedule is going to also go in between the two new signs.

2) It appears some more "skeleton" work is going on in what I'm calling the "Omar Tower" of the Sebo. I don't know why more construction hasn't happened horizontally, but it seems like they're advancing on what they got up nicely.

If I had to take a wild stab at why construction has slowed is the atheltic department might be putting together a hardhat tour of the area for prospective donors and those who have already given.

I thought I saw some where that building would take place in a horizontal direction, in sections. They will build the tunnel and adjoining "Omar tower" and then proceed.

I was thinking that they only completed the part of the structure which they needed that big crane for. They probably can erect the rest with smaller cranes so maybe they just did what they needed to while they had the big crane on sight???

The crane is still on-site. It is where the fence row used to be.

Is it in webcam range? Because the big crane is longer in the picture I see.

Maybe I am being picky but I was dissapointed to see that the athletic department put up vinyl signs. They could not afford a real nice one? I think the signs show how cheap the athletic dept. is. It looks like in a strong storm the signs will get blown off. For being in such plain site of wooster/75 they should have invested a little bit more in the signs.

As a SEBO "donor", I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that I'd been invited to a reception in the President's suite in the Doyt.... I guess it's a possiblity that there would be "tours' set up for us to go thru the construction, but certainly no mention of that was made on the mailer BG sent out. And I'd also guess there would be a liability question that would seriously affect this. Only problem is that this will cut down radicaly on my tailgate time as the reception is to start at 10:30, prior to the Spring game.
