2006 predictions
2006 predictions
Any predictions for the 2006 season? Here are a few of my own
predictions. I am a loyal Falcon fan. However, I am also a realist. So here is my prediction.
Wisconisn-I think this will be a loss. We were competitive in the game
last year. But I feel that Wisconsin will run the ball like they did last year.
0-1
Buffalo-They will be more competitive because of the coaching change, but we will win this contest.
1-1
Florida International-This game could go either way. I do beleive
playing in Florida will get them the edge.
1-2
Kent State-What can I say but automatic win.
2-2
Ohio University-They will be much stronger this year. I don't see us winning
this game.
2-3
Ohio State-Loss.
2-4
Eastern Michigan-Win.
3-4.
At Central Michigan-Loss.
3-5
At Temple-Win.
4-5
At Akron
Loss
4-6
Miami of Ohio
Win
5-6
Toledo
Loss
5-7
I hope I am wrong. But this is my initial reaction. What is your prediction?

Here is my prediction for the upcoming Falcon season:
Wisconsin: Loss; This is the Wisconsin's coaches debut, and I just don't see a win here. Same deficit as last year.
Buffalo: Win
FIU: Win; I think BG will come out play hard in this one.
Kent State: Win
Ohio: Win; Even with the improvements, I still think Ohio isn't an elite football team in the MAC.
OSU: Loss
EMU: Win
CMU: Win; They did have a drastic improvement, but i don't see us losing.
Temple: Win
Akron: Loss
Miami: Win; Hopefully not a storm this year.
Toledo: Win; This might be wishful thinking, but I think we will do to them what they did to us last year
Overall Regular Season: 9-3, MAC: 8-1

An outside perspective. Now, keep in mind that my predictions are more because of the loss of Lane, Pope, Sharon, and Sanders than it is the loss of Jacobs.

7-5, 5-3 MAC. I would be mildly surprised if we did this well, and very pleasantly surprised if we did better than this. 4-8 would not surprise me all that much, although I would be slightly disappointed. Anything less than that, and serious changes would be in order.

Roll Along!
Anything between 4-8 and 8-4 would not be surprising. I expect us to be playing much better at the end of the season and have a shot at a MAC East title, but I just don't think that we will be good enough to do it.

I'll make a prediction after the spring game. I have to actually get a look at this team first.
Roll Along You BG Warriors,
Roll Along and Win for BGSU!!!

You can include me in the group that says anything from 4-8 to 8-4 is a possibility. Here is my early guess:
Wisc - L
Buffalo - W
FIU - W, it is a long road trip, but FIU is still not a good team. We need to beat them. I think this game will be a good barometer on how the rest of the season goes.
Kent - W
Ohio - W, I am still skeptical on OU's improvement.
OSU - L
EMU - W
CMU - W, they will be bringing in a new QB this year as well. Until I see that that guy can play, I think we should win this game.
Temple - W
Akron - L
Miami - W, we have the whammy on them now. 8)
Toledo - L
8-4 overall, 6-2 MAC, tied for first in the East, but lose tie-breaker because of loss to Akron.

Here's my prediction on the coming season
vs Wisconsin - W - Wisconsin has lost just as much as we have, and they won't be nearly as good next year. They are vulnerable, and I see us shocking them in the opener.
vs Buffalo - W - No question
at Florida International - W - Again, another no brainer. We tend to be a road warrior type of team anyway, going 4-0 on road in conference last year.
vs Kent State - W - Nuff said.
at Ohio - W - I don't buy into OU challenging in the East this season, win brings us a 5-0 start.
at Ohio State - L - Lots of hype for this one as it may well be a battle of the unbeatens, but OSU prevails easily.
vs Eastern Michigan - W - Please, can we get a worthy opponent in the Doyt?!
at Central Michigan - L - CMU is strong, they could be a MAC title contender. We are always good on road it seems, but winning this is too much to ask.
at Akron - W - Our fans outdraw Akron's fans in this one, and BG fans chant "this is our house" as falcons exact revenge on Zips.
vs Miami - W - Miami is a team that is headed for severe regression this year.
at Toledo - L - Maybe its because I've been stained from last years game, but I don't see a win at Toledo as being very likely. However, 6-2 conference mark is good enough for MAC East Championship.
MAC Championship Game - vs Northern Illinois - L - NIU is without a shadow of a doubt the team to beat in the MAC this year. We might give them a game, but I don't anybody, not even us from stopping the Huskies from winning the MAC this season.
This would leave us with a 9-4 finish
That puts us

Not sure, but I am willing to bet that one of them will find their way on the field that day if Wisconsin is losing.falconfan1999 wrote:Doesn't Wisconsin have 3 players suspended for the game against us? I thought that they were all 3 running backs as well.
If that is the case, I think that this one could be closer than everybody is thinking.
24: I think a lot of people would call a 9-4 season a great accomplishment. I doubt that we will see nine wins though. We are extremly young at very important position. I think it's way too early to say how this team will perform. There are a lot of question marks. Is our defense going to be improved next year? How is our o-line going to be? Who is going to be the QB and will he be able to lead the team? Receivers, from what I hear they are either young, slow or cant catch. Oh yeah and we can't forget the kicking game... Hopefully the Florida duo will be as good as advertised.
When looking at the schedule there are some no brainer teams that we should be and have beat in the past but with a young team will those games that used to be easy W's still be? At the moment I'm not so sure. We had a veteran squad last year that did not finish where most of us thought.
