The only QB besides the big 3 of Young, Leinart, and Cutler that I would take in front of Omar would be Charlie Whitehurst. Maybe. No way would I take Jackson or Clemens, and especially not that idiot Brodie Croyle. That's the one that makes my blood boil, the ONLY reason he went in front of Omar is because he went to Alabama.

Omar was rated by Mel Kiper as the 7th best QB in the draft, but Jackson was #8 and he went today. Bruce Gradkowski was #9. Does this mean that it is possible that Gradkowski could slip in front of Jacobs tomorrow?

At this point, I wouldn't rule anything out.

I still think Omar goes late 4th/early 5th.

Well, that's not the only reason. There are many reasons why Croyle went ahead of Omar.

Also, Kiper had Jackson ahead of Omar. I saw it on when he listed his top QBs. Of course, it was only 1 spot ahead of him.

What's most important for Omar now, is not that he goes ahead of so-and-so. It's the team that is most important. You want to be on a team that is committed towards developing him (long term). IMO, it doesn't matter if Gradkowski goes ahead of Omar tomorrow. It matters what organization he is part of.

Well, that's not the only reason. There are many reasons why Croyle went ahead of Omar.

Really what reasons? I'd like to hear them, because its pretty amazing to me how a QB on a team with one of the worst offenses in college football can go in front of a guy who powered his team to being one of the premier offensive teams in all of I-A. I swear, if Bowling Green played Alabama this past season, assuming Omar was healthy, we'd only have to score two TDs in the game to win because Alabama's offense was so bad. You'd figure if Croyle wasn't a complete idiot under center, they'd be able to score more than 10 points a game or pick up more than 200 yards in a game.

Darby probably could have scored a few tds on our rush defense...plus his #1 target went down early. give him props, stop hatin

Croyle is grabbage compared to Omar. He could never have a team ride his shoulders for production of yards and touchdowns for a game, let alone a season.

Exactly.

I'm no fan of Brodie Croyle, but I don't see why anyone should be surprised. Nearly everyone had Omar behind most of these other picks, and he was rated as a 4th rounder by the NFL committee. The 4th isn't here yet, so we'll see tomorrow.

As I said in my grading of the QB thread, Omar is a project at best and his deficiencies are in some pretty important attributes for a QB. I want to love him cuz he's from BG, but when I think about what I'd want my team to do it wouldn't be drafting Omar...of course that's not to say that I'd want any of these other QBs that are going either.

Croyle has a great arm, one of the strongest of the available QBs. If not the strongest. Has a lot of experience dropping back under center, making the correct reads. Throws an accurate deep ball. Shows great leadership.

Of course he has his flaws like every other QB in the draft. But KC saw a guy that could contribute at a high level, sooner than Omar. I really do think college QBs playing in the spread offense is seen as a risk. Omar took the majority of his snaps in the shotgun, has issues with his overall mechanics (not just the side arm motion). Not that he can't correct any of his flaws. He just is seen as a project that some teams aren't willing to wait for.

There is no way that anyone can compare Omar Jacobs and Brodie Croyle. Omar had a good game against Wisconsin, but didn't play well enough to win. He had a great first half, but faded in the third quarter, and then had a decent fourth. He didn't really play well at all in the other big game of the non conference against Boise. Let's face it, the MAC wasn't as good this year as in years past, and that hurts him. Brodie Croyle played in what was the probably the most defensive conference in the country this year. He still led his team to a double digit win season. His only real threat at wide receiver was lost around mid season, and they still kept winning. Be upset if you think that Omar Jacobs should have been chosen in the first day, but don't go and start calling other people garbage because they were picked ahead of our guy. That is ridiculous. I think that these scouts and personnel people know more than any of us.

I have seen Brody Croyle play and I think I have the right to call him garbage. Sure he is a decent QB, but he'll never be nearly as accurate as Omar. I watched the combine and Omar was THEE only QB to complete all of his passes. When they asked the "experts" (ya know those guys you say that know more than me by default) who they were most impressed by from QB's at the combine, they said "Jay Cutler really stood out today, but a lot of people already know about him, outside of him Omar Jacobs was the best and it will be interesting to see where he goes on Draft day and if his throwing motion really upsets that many people." Never mentioned a thing about Brody Croyle and I remember him playing that day. Also you took one game of Omar's against a good Big10 defense in which Omar put up 42pts and compared that to Brody getting double digit wins in the SEC? Brody Croyle didnt get them that, the frickin defense did! I watched a lot of their games... werent they the team that won a lot of games on a last second FG? Like beating the underachieving VOLS 6-3!!!!! WOW must have been some superb QB play in that game to lead your team to 2 whole FGs! Especially with one of those FGs came off a turnover. Its not fair to look at it game by game or play by play, but if you really wanted to do that Omar would still win. Im more impressed with 42 on Wiscy at Wiscy, than 6pts at home vs. the stinkin Vols.
