Omar a Steeler
Omar picked by the Steelers in the 5th. Not the ideal situation for a young QB with Big Ben already there.

Pittsburgh is the perfect situation for Omar. Quality organization that doesn't need Omar to play. Omar will get the chance to learn, get better, and probably move on to play for a different team. Omar is a lucky guy.

Also, Omar is a GREAT insurance QB for the Steelers. If Big Ben ever goes down again, he's can step in and be the same consistant type of QB that Roethlesberger is. He can develop under an awesome coaching staff and go from there.
Granted, it will be excrutiating for most BG fans to see Omar surrounded by terrible towels, but I'm sure everybody can find a happy median.

Assuming those BG fans are also Browns fans.thedrum wrote:Granted, it will be excrutiating for most BG fans to see Omar surrounded by terrible towels, but I'm sure everybody can find a happy median.

Omar is not going to step in as a backup QB for a Super Bowl Champ. He will not be insurance for Big Ben. He is too much of a project for that. Batch is the Backup right now and while he is not great, the Steelers would certainly trust him more than a rookie taken in the 5th round. At best he will be the third option and likely a practice squad member.thedrum wrote:Also, Omar is a GREAT insurance QB for the Steelers. He will learn, however, from great coaches.

You forgot to add the phrase 'maybe for one year' at the end of that first statement. Omar will be competing with Rod Rutherford for the third QB spot this year. I can tell you the Pitt staff does not really like Rutherford as a QB. Omar will be given every opportuniy to dress as the third string QB for one year, and they envision him moving into the backup role in his second season. Omar will not be the practice squad QB unless he sucks something awful. That is Rutherford's job, and Rod sucks enough for everybody.

He'll be the 3rd QB to start the season.fredthefalcon wrote:Omar is not going to step in as a backup QB for a Super Bowl Champ. He will not be insurance for Big Ben.
