It would seem that our neighbors to the north will have to make up a large portion of the crowds at the international bowl...this is one exerpt from a post
"This topic will either explode with activity, or die due to boredom, I dunno. How to argue something so stupid yet intractible? Bowls are stupid, but make money. That's it in a nutshell. Playoffs baby, PLAYOFFS!
As for a bowl in Canada? I'm a Canadian, and I certainly don't need it. No 4 down football allowed north of the 49th. LOL This is just another sniff test for a group of people who are wanting to eventually get an NFL franchise in Toronto.
It's a one time thing anyways folks. The year after, according to the US government, You will need a passport to cross the border or return. 50% of Canadians have a passport, less than 25% of Americans have one (no idea how many college students have one). It will be too much of a hassle to put on a major sporting event across the borde"
The pasport biz checks out...not to mention the mt of paper work needed to transport fire arms back and forth....my lord.

Echoes of many naysayers going into the bowl's formation. I wouldn't give it a lot of credence.

Have passport....will attend!
And for all of the rest of you, if it looks like they have a chance to go by early November it takes about 6 weeks to get it through regular intervals...expedites cost more.

The mere thought of BG possibly playing in this bowl game is one more reason why I should get a passport. I just put it down on my list of things to do.

Seriously!!! How do you expect me to enjoy a football game if I can't bring my guns with me!!!!
Never thought about the passport thing. I think it would be wise of the MAC to run a campaign reminding people of this fact. I've heard that the wait to get a passport processed is getting longer by the week.

Are you serious???

I refuse to go to any bowl game in any country that limits my ability to have something to shoot with!!

This bowl will be fine. Like any other it will take some time to establish and getting passports early might just be part of that process. I don't plan on going out of country anytime soon, I will in Hawaii in June, but I still keep my passport current. It's a good form of identification to have. This is a good deal for all involved. We get another bowl game, Toronto gets some tourist income, and Canada is exposed to another form of football. It may outdraw the Blue Jays as well. But since no one can shoot at anything then it will be a bust
[Please note the abundance of SARCASM in the post above. Thank you.]

I think I hear ya MACMAN (though I don't *remember* taking any drugs this morning...

) I'd just figure anyone that was a serious enough hunter to make the trip a combo bowl game-hunting trip would have the paperwork cleared ahead of time... of course, that doesn't mean there isn't still alot of paperwork, apparently.

HEy its actually realy easy to go in to canada with your guns, its just the Us customs folks are a pain, and there is no margin for error with US customs. That said two positives...one we can feel good that those who legally guns must jumps through the hoops to prevent illegal entry and two...if do go to the international bowl.....
You may just have to join me for some...BEAR (brats) before the game

few things in life taste so sweet.
You know, I may come across as little bit negitive on Bowl expansion and little bit like a waco...but I like it that way, if we were all vanilla life would get boring.
why not both, the bowls and playoffs

I would love to see the top 8 teams have a playoff system with home fields used until the championship game. Let the other schools that don't make keep the bowl system. It is a win win situation

Lose-lose for the MAC.
We've had Top 10 teams. We've had undefeated teams.
We've never had Top 8 teams.

No doubt, so true. As long as the BCS is in play, there will be D1 BCS and the other over 50% of D1 that is not good enough no matter what happens or who beat, or finish close to.
The only way in this system BGSU plays for an elected championship anything, is to
1. Crush every team by no less than 30 pts...year one we get no respect
2. Crush every team for the second year in a row, now "were not fluky" and must crush our bowl oponent in the #5 bcs bowl.
3. Crush every team we play again and we might get a remote shot...at best
THE BOLW SYSteM WAS CREATED BY THIEVES FOR THe SOLE PURPOSE OF EXCLUSION!!!!
THere is no national championship in D1 college football, there has never been a National championship in D1 College Football and there never will be untill the BCS is destroyed!
once the numbers reach the 80% level from the now 70s for a play off...we will get some kind of half breed attempt...but that will be better than this.
why there is bowls, but I like playoffs

The bowl were started back in the day to award teams from the mid westwho had a great season to go to the west coast and play a big game and to bring fans to the west. It was never orginally set up for a National champioship factor. The press started that is the 60's and it has been a mess since. Quoted by espn college football encyclpidia.
I agree a non BSC school will never win a nation championship. So in reallity there are two choices.
1 Try to leave the MAC, and get into the big east, were BGSU in time could or evan now match up very well against the other teams. Plus the Doyt is big enough that it would not be the smallest stadium in the big east.
2 take the all the NON BCS school and drop them into the 1-AA and redo the 1-AA system were there is more exposer and keep the playoff system and then the MAC team could get a National Championship. It works for the my other fav team Youngstown State, 4 National Titles, 2 runners up 11 playoff trips.
remember 1-AA is set up for the smaller schools so I believe that all NON BSC should be there, just make it more market friendly, with TV.

Please don't talk smack about YSU. I used them as a example Remember BG is 1-A with 85 scolarships, while YSU is 1-AA with 65, and have struggled with out Jim Tressel. YSU did go 8-3 last year and was triple champions of the gateway, but fell short of the playoffs because we got killed by Pitt. YSU has a great team coming back with High hopes of playoffs, but I do believe BG would win, but it might be closer than the average person would think.
Note: BG does hold a 4-2 series lead over YSU last played in 1988 BG won. and 87 YSU won
again please don't talk smack about YSU. No matter what is said about YSU. They have National Titles
thats why making all non BSC schools 1-AA, but make it more market friendly to make money.
