Ok, I heard a rumor and was wondering if it is true. I have heard, that at the University of Cincinnati, in order to get season tickets for Basketball, you also have to purchase football tickets.

Does anyone know if this is true? Do other schools do this? This sounds like a way for UC to boost football ticket sales and not really attendance.

I couldn't find anything on this. I know basketball tickets are hard to get. This sounds like a way to show, on paper at least, higher ticket sales for football.

Well thats an interesting way to do it. At UK in order to keep your lower arena basketball tickets you have to donate another 1000$ (maybe more) to the Atheletic department. But they don't have problems keeping the football stadium full like UC does, even though the team is worse.

I think any program like that would be counter-productive at BG. I know it would be for me.

It would probably be a good idea to offer a package deal with discounts on season tickets for Football, Basketball (Men's and Women's) and Hockey. In addition you could package buy; meaning for every season ticket you buy for Football you'll receive the option to buy Men's Basketball for half price. Something like that would work well at BGSU.

Many NFL teams are doing this now. For instance, anyone who wants to see the Steelers play in San Diego this year must also buy tickets to the home opener and 2 exhibition games. It has been met with extreme anger by most fans. Of course, there is a serious demand difference between NFL tickets and MAC tickets. The restrictive deal would be a terrible decision for BG methinks.

It might also be a good idea to require that you buy a couple hoops or hockey tickets for every season ticket purchased. Perhaps games during winter break for hockey and hoops or against low interest teams would be an interesting idea.

With our fan base, we have to make it easier for them to be involved in our sports, not harder.

my mom and uncle are hoping Duke starts a similar policy...they've been football season ticket holders there for like 10 years...they've sat through three or four winless seasons, and have only witnessed I think 5 ACC victories or something like that...I think they deserve some bball tickets for going through all of that

Kansas does this as well.....at least for students. In order to get tickets for basketball you have to get tickets for football! Both seasons together cost 150 which is way more than BG, but if you think about what they bring to the court....it is worth it!

I agree. For me, it's a 2 hr and 20 min ride one way to BG. Football is my fave and it's only 1 game a week. If I were forced to buy tix for the other sports, the majority of games I couldn't attend, I would just walk up and buy football tix for every game.

I don't think this idea would ever fly at BGSU.

It's stupid to even think about at BG. Doing this is basically a way of driving up the price when demand far exceeds supply.

Last I checked our 25,000+ plus football stadium struggled to see crowds above 20,000.

Our 4500 seat basketball arena averaged about 2000.

Why the hell would anyone in their right mind buy tickets to one of these (if they didn't want to) just so they could ensure their tickets for the other? Our supply of tickets far exceeds the demand, so doing something to inflate the price seems pretty asinine to me.
