I must say I am a little confused. We get Hunter an ALL-MAC Linebacker and a guy who has successfully coached a defensive backfield and we name him the Running Backs coach?

While we take our current RB coach and put him on the defensive side of the ball?


Not trying to second guess or be and armchair head coach, I am just a little confused.

It seems to happen a decent amount of the time. I guess good coaches can coach whatever position they need to.

I see DD's concern and I think's it's valid. I also think O & B has a point as well. It does happen. Welcome back, Coach Hunter! I remember seeing John play in '86-'87.

I like the fact that Coach Ward will coach the entire D line...seems to be a good idea to build the best unit possible.

I had the same thoughts.

I did too at first, but then I thought about it some more. A lot of times, it's easier to coach somebody and teach them something when you can look at it from the opponent's shoes. The RB is mainly trying to beat the linebackers. Maybe Hunter will be better able to teach our young RB's what the linebackers might be thinking.

Other than ball-holding techniques, blocking, timing, plays, and what holes to look for, what can you really teach a RB? It's either in ya or it isn't.

Yeah...but it's not like Springer has never coached DB's before. Maybe they wanted to give everyone the benefit of a fresh insight?

I will say this, having the head coach from Detroit Pershing on our staff should help us in recruting Motown.

Yeah, I was definilty confused a little when I saw all the coaching duties shifted around like that but we'll see if it works soon enough.

I like switching things up a bit.

It happens at my place of employ all the time. It leads to success. I'm uncertain as to how effective the philosophy transfers to the sporting arena, but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt on this.

I wonder how much of a say Coach Stud had in this decision considering his championship playing career at BG coincided with Hunter's. Adding another link to the past is tremendous as are the relationships and knowledge he possesses regarding the Detroit high school football scene.
