Over/Under

Post by Jacobs4Heisman »

I'm setting the O/U for passes thrown against Wisky at 20. We have the look of a strong running team this year, and I hope we can tailor the spread offense to work to our strength.

O/U on wins = 7

O/U on conference wins = 5

O/U on Points per game = 26

O/U on Points allowed per game = 23

O/U on True Freshman starters by the end of the season (not counting Ellis and Rojas) = 3

Feel free to take the over or the under for the above categories with some explanation. This could be a good way to gauge expectations around here.

Passes vs. Wisky - under - I think we will be right in this game from the beginning and a lot of that will have to do with success running the ball. If AT was at QB, I would say it would be around 20, but I would guess 15 or so from Barnes or whoever else plays.

Wins - over - I think OU and Kent State will again be bottom feeders and FIU and Temple are perennial ESPN bottom 10 headliners. Toss in Buffalo and Eastern at home and I think we have 6 should-win games. I think 2 out of 4 against CMU, Miami, UT, and Akron is reasonable. I think we will play Wisconsin tough and could easily win that one as well. I'm going to throw out any chance of beating OSU. I just don't see us keeping it close.

Conference wins - over - see above.

Points per game - under - I think it will be close, but I see us really struggling to score at times. I don't think we will see any 50, 60, or 70 point outbursts this year. I would be thrilled if we rolled up 40 at some point this year.

Points allowed - over - I think our defense will be strong this year, but I think we will give up a lot of points to Ohio State. I say under 23 in conference play.

True freshmen starters - under (I hope) - Obviously, this is a gray area right now. I haven't seen anything of any of these guys except the recruiting video and who knows what kind of injuries will pop up throughout the year. Based on reports and the video, though, I would not be surprised to see guys like Jackson, Fells, Young, Brighton, Brown, Mahone, etc. get significant time. Maybe not 3 starters, but definitely at least 3 big-time contributors (outside of the kickers).

Mark me down for over...way over. We run a spread offense...that's our offense. We don't line-up and run between the tackles. That's just not Greg Brandon's style.

I don't care who is at QB, we have to throw the ball to compete with the bigger schools. We sure as hell ain't going to line-up and run the ball down Wisconsin's throat with any success. We are going to have to throw to be able to have any chance to run the ball successfully at all.

Plus, if we fall behind early, we'll need to throw the ball to try and score with them. Omar and our offense was the best defense we had last year against these guys. Remember, we really didn't stop the their offense at all last year. And, we don't have the offense to score with them this year...unless we throw the ball.

We'll have 20 pass attempts by half time.

Over, significantly so if we get behind by more than 10 points.

Boy, this is a tough one. Off the top of my head, wins against EMU, Buffalo, Kent, FIU and Temple. Losses against Ohio State, Wisky & Toledo. That leaves Ohio, Miami, CMU and Akron. We should be able to split that quartet, so I'll say over.

Based on above, I'll say over.

Under. Too many question marks at the skill positions.
Jacobs4Heisman wrote:O/U on Points allowed per game = 23
Over, but not by much.

Over.

Over. While we may lean on the running game more, we still need to throw the ball to move it against a team like the Badgers. I am guessing 26 - 28 chucks from Mr. Barnes.

Over (Buffalo, FIU, Kent, Ohio, Eastern, Central, Temple, Miami)
Jacobs4Heisman wrote:O/U on conference wins = 5.
Over (See above.)
Jacobs4Heisman wrote:O/U on Points per game = 26.
Under. But not a lot under, I am thinking like 24 a game. (An average of 8 Big Bird figgies per game  )
Jacobs4Heisman wrote:O/U on Points allowed per game = 23.
Under. I am optimistic that with Lovett having an entire year at BG and the young talent coming in that our defense will be vastly improved. And the offenses of some of our opponents will probably suck pretty bad. I would guess 20.

Under. But I think the number of true freshman that are playing and contributing by the end of the season will be over 3.
