I think there have been rumors on here, but nobody has ever come up with anything concrete.

The guy that does the MAC Report Online recently interviewed Greg Brandon, so I would have to think this is legit.

This is definitely bad news. Thomas shows some flashes last year and I know the coaches were counting on him this year.

Damn. Chris Bullock is gonna get his chance behind Macon if this is true.

Bobby T. definitely showed some signs of good things to come, but with Macon rested and ready (and hopefully hungry) after a red shirt season and Bullock in the wings I think the running game is near the bottom on our list of worries heading in to '06.

phewwwwww I'm out of breathe after that run on sentence. . .

Damn, this would be bad news if it is true. I hope it's not true, he showed some promise last year and we need help pretty much everywhere. But, if it's true, it gives someone else a chance to make a bigger impact. Hit those books too guys.

Not sure, but he's probably a hell of a lot smarter than Gregg Brandon is.

In this Toledo Blade article on the players being in Cleveland yesterday, it says that Thomas is indeed out for academic reasons.

Quoting the article:
NOTES: The Falcons report Aug. 4 and fall camp starts the next day. … Brandon said sophomore running back Bobby Thomas is academically ineligible and is not on the roster. Last season Thomas played in nine games and had 183 yards rushing.
So, I guess it's true. Really too bad.

That leaves Macon, Winovich and Bullock in the backfield. If I'm Brandon I might consider keeping true freshmen Jamal Brown at RB...

As much as I'd like to see us get a premiere athlete put on defense, if the kid's best position is RB, that's where we should put him. We are certainly not so good at the position that we couldn't use the help.

Maureen's article in the Bland today confirms that Brandon said he is ineligible and not on the roster.

This kid showed great promise last year and this will really hurt.

He was one of my favorite players! :( This will definitely be a big loss for the team because at the Ball St. game last year he looked like much better back both running and catching compared to B.J. Lane! Hopefully Chris Bullock will be a stud and we can still use that 2-back set a lot!

So does this mean he's completely done or is it possible he could redshirt and resurface next season (2007)?
