"NEW" Music for games

Post by MACMAN »

Ok, I admit today I am having fun. Browsing through my stacks of CDs, and music on the HD. To make it interesting I ask myself, Self, if I ran the game sound system what would I do?"
We of course I dont want want to play the same stuff that you hear at every game. I want to create some unique BGSU sounds. So that realy ruled out a lot. A whole lot of some favorite tunes.
I though
Faith No More Falling to Pieces would be a good choice, but again its that same rock sound, while good, it a bit over done...
So I steped in to the time machine, I did not go back to far, just to the 1970's
I said holly s**t!!! Disco is popular again! oooo lets have some fun...
So what I put together was this:

1.Song for Big plays and touchdowns
Thats the way I like it by KC and the sun shine band (to bad Coles not here any more, lol)
2. big play on D, or awsome individual performance
YOU SEXY THING by HOT CHOCOLATE

3. Big turn over for us...of course you knew it had to on the list
Stayin Alive

4. for times in between
The Hustle by VAN McCoy
5. time killer durring a time out or change of ends
Booige OOGIE OOGIE by taste of honey
6. Injury for the other team
More than a Woman the Bee Gees
almost forgot

For a guy that is so concerned about things being "gay" there are a lot of curious suggestions in the above post.

Well, Depends on what your going for.

If you want Falcon Football to be the nice, family outings that is fine. However, I believe that the drunk student section is by far the nosiest section in the Doyt and can dictate the tempo of the game. I say play current hip hop or thundo-rock like "Enter Sandman" type material to keep the students energy up until half time or the end of the game when they can drink more. I remember tailgating last year with a huge crowd, and then come gametime, not even half went in. With the loss of Omar and pretty weak expectations this season, it will be hard to not only get students in, but to keep them in once they get there. Our young team will need all the support they can get.

p.s. to anyone trying campus legend in ncaa 07, take an easy major. I got suspended for 3 games for GPA issues. They dont even let you play the games and the cpu lost all 3.

how about letting the band play some songs more often. i'm in the band and i'd like to play a little more often. I can see still having music over the loud speaker but let us play a few songs. Last season we did not get to play a full song often. I can't even remember when we played a full song.

To some one who does not apreciate disco or the 70's they may well come off as gay. but then again I do done a dress and wig from time to time and wield my guns whilist all duded up. I prefer my kilt and pipes but some a dress just makes me feel purdy.

As for the Band playing more...I go to ND games a couple times a season and realy like the Band. No offense , I dont know whats to blame at the doyt, but our band is either to small or stadium layout is not conducive to a good sounding band, i prefer the audio system and even that could stand to be beefed up from where its at now.

oh yes PS and if you think the music is gay, then you must find a perfect match for oour gay as hell Miami Red Hawk log knock off.

I think more band is the answer. In a somewhat related train of thought, we had a "Turn Back The Clock" day at our ballpark and we brought in an organ (and an organ player). The traditional sound of an organ brought me back and really complimented the sights and sounds of the ballpark. Falls on the gridiron should be accompanied by the sound of marching bands not piped in music of any sexual persuasion.

I told you not to play Lady of Spain anymore!

I'm with you. Let the band jam!! It has gotten much better the past few years and I'd rather hear the band more. I don't mind some tunes now and then. Play Megadeth's "Crush 'em" when the Falcons come flying outta the tunnel or tee up the ball.

The band is most certainly not too small! We're looking at our Third straight season of having over 215 members. Wind in the doyt is an issue for the FMB as our sound is blown straight out to Dayton. Problem #2 being that we sit right next to the Student section and play towards the field where no fans are to hear us. The SEBO seating will solve both of those problems as it will cut down on wind and place us in a location where we can play directly into the student section.
Yeah right girl!

Archie's "We Ready" I always thought was a great intro song......when the team actually hit the cue. Avenged Sevenfold's "Bat Country" would be good stadium music too. Black Eyed Peas "Pump It" is a good Time Out song.

"Regarding BGSU, I would think their biggest strength is that they never give up, They never slow down and they battle hard even after the other team scores. We have to be on our game and never, ever take the foot off the gas for a second."

"BG was relentless. It's like they know that a good first pass on the breakout from a defenseman will almost always result in an odd-man rush against them - but they go in anyway and dare you to make that pass. All three of their goals were just grit and effort. That's a team any fan can be proud to support...they give all they've got."
