Mark Miller

Post by TG1996 »

For those that were around (or in the know)... was Mark Miller the QB the same Mark Miller that was an assistant coach in the mid-80s? Also, it strikes me as somewhat odd that he was named an All-American (by the "Football News Agency"), but, according to the media guide, didn't even make 2nd team All-MAC that year.

Yes, Mark Miller was a QB at BG, also Offensive Coordinator as a coach. He was a NFL QB at places like Cleveland too.

Thank ya! After reading a bit more about his "timeline", I figured it had to be the same one, but just wanted to make sure. There was another "Mark Miller" on the '82 team, but I...uh...don't think they were related.

Interestingly enough, thanks to the media guide, I know there have been TWO "Paul Miles" that have played for BG. Only one has his number retired, though. :-D

Mark Miller the QB was also my t-ball coach. And he was the color guy with Dave Horger for many years in what made for a great broadcast team.

I believe he also was with the Michigan Panthers.

Unfortunately, he was forced to hold a clipboard behind Bobby Hebert, who turned out to be pretty good. :)

The USFL was some good football.

Miller played for the Browns (78-79) and Packers (80) in the NFL. He was a third-round pick!!!

And also one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He is still very involved in local FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) functions.

Mark and his wife were good friends of mine back when he played for the Falcons. He lived across the hall from me in Haven House with other players Jeff Smith, Tom Saleet (had a brother Dan who also played for BG and was quite good!) and Doug Smith who went on to play for then Los Angeles Rams from which he retired some years ago. His wife, Barb, was a cheerleader for the Falcons and last I knew, they lived in Lima and he works for Lima radio. I didn't realize their son was in college already! I feel old!! Haven't seen any of those guys in quite some time...I miss those days!

Good stuff! All of you guys, really. Thanks for that.

More affirmation for my project. It's great to hear memories of former Falcons to break up the concern over how much a sophomore is eating at training table!!! :-D

Mark also does alot of work for the Christian TV station in Lima. He does a lot of promotional work and does both play-by-play and color for their high school basketball coverage. Mark's other son, Kyle(Bubba), will be playing football for Mount Union this fall.

Mark and Barb's eldest son, Zac, got his MBA from BG. Mark is employed by Elida (Lima area) schools as their business manager. Barb also works for the schools. They are still the same delightful duo we knew at BGSU!
