And just to round the article off:
...The 2006 academic eligibility of another running back, junior Scooter McDougle, remains unresolved, Helgren said

Someone on the Rocket board said McDougle was taking a summer class (or classes) and those results would tell the tale. I wouldn't make too much out of either of these kids being ineligible; the Rockets seem to have plenty of horsepower in the backfield.

McDougle I would think would be more of a hit than Junior Mafia getting the boot. Then again, if there was any question about Scooter being eligible this fall, someone will be getting plenty of reps to get ready just in case. Besides, even if he is ineligible, his replacement will have 11 "real time practices" before we face him anyway.

Do they? even with Scooter they look talented, but unproven. Scooter hasn't shown he can be a factor for more than a few games because of health and conditioning issues. Parmele has looked good in spot duty, but who knows if he can carry the load. Collins did well in mop up duty, but who knows if he can do the same against the first unit and Davis has yet to carry the ball.

They look a lot like us at RB. There's talent at the position, but it's unproven. I think the Rockettes have a chance to be really good this year...I also think they have a chance to be really dissappointing. There's very little experience at QB, not much more at RB and the defense didn't stop a decent offense at all last year.

They start the year at Iowa State, travel to WMU and then face Kansas at home...they get a breather aginst McNeese State and then they have to play Pitt at Pitt........They could easily start October with four losses (including one in conference play).

Things could be really interesting for them....

....
As I recall, Davis scored a touchdown the first time he touched the ball last year (kickoff return). That would be he that did well in mop up duty while Collins is a redshirt frosh who has yet to carry the ball.

And I understood that going in. Felt it needed to be said though.

Not sure why either one of them is a "hit" taken. Neither played last year. Scooter was huge in 2004, but we played without him last year. Sure, Trinity and Quinton are gone, but DaJuane Collins will be very good. And there is this Bruce Frieson kid out of Cleveland Glenville, who coaches have likened to Wasean Tait.

Oh yeah, Richard Davis averaged 7.1 ypc last year as a redshirt freshman. And Jalen Parmele is a junior now. He played right away as a true freshman and has a lot of experience.

Never mind then. I thought McDougle was around last year.

So he has 12 years of eligibility lined up?
