From the Blade:
When some of the walls of Bowling Green State University's new Sebo Athletic Center began cracking weeks after the concrete block was placed, officials knew something was wrong.

The masonry subcontractor had failed to fill in the walls in some places with grout, had not put all the required reinforcement bars into place, and had not properly overlapped those bars in some areas.

At least they found the problem early and are going to pay closer attention.

This will put the SEBO behind schedule, but this isn't an error which will require more money's. In other words, BG isn't paying for the errors.

Since most of you probably just read the on-line story, I must point out this story was on THE FRONT PAGE of the The Blade. Not the front of the sports, FRONT PAGE OF THE PAPER. Why would this be a front page story of the Toledo paper??? :?

Gosh......

NEGATIVITY ALERT...NEGATIVITY ALERT...NEGATIVITY ALERT!!!

Seriously, who here didn't think there would be at least one delay building the SEBO. Most, if not all building projects run into problems. The point here is that it is fixed. This happening early could turn out to be a good thing. I would imagine things will be watched even closer for the rest of the project. This could save us more delays in the future.

I sure hope they start paying more attention to detail. This appears to be the 2nd building error since starting. I just hope we don't see another 2 or 3 or 4 more mistakes and this thing doesnt' see the light of day till '08.

You have got to be kidding me! The front page?! Well if that's their way of doing things, they sure as hell better have the grand opening of the SEBO on the FRONT PAGE when we open the place then!

At the scrimamge today Ed and I got to see the Sebo Center up close. Despite having to redo some things it still looks like they are making decent progress.
