CBS Tailgating....ROLL CALL!
One week, kids. ONE WEEK! Freak is bouncing up and down in his chair just reading that sentence.
Anyhoo, the last time we visited this topic the West side of the staium in the large gravel pasture was the choice spot for tailgating.
Is that still on? I will be there around 4-ish and with an class C motorhome (hopefully).
The wife will be joining me as will (perhaps) a few friendly Big Xi fans.
My menu has yet to be determined, but I'm pretty sure there's going to be a little cake knowing that the 2nd is the annual celebration of the wife and I touching eachother's nuptials (or somehting like that.) I will not be deep frying any of the cake so don't ask.

I'll be there. Haven't worked out a menu yet, but I think I'm hoping for noon-1ish.

Everyone join in....
DEEP FRY - DEEP FRY - DEEP FRY - DEEP FRY......
I hope to be there next weekend. It's going to have to be a game-day decision though based upon some other factors.

Pam and I will be there....sans the midget...not sure if we're coming in the night before to hit the airshow Saturday or just staying Saturday to hit the show on Sunday. That decision wil dictate when we show up.
If we hit the airshow first, I'll try to commandeer this fella. Freak, I like your grill but I think this one might have you beat...

That thing is fantastic. And they sell the brats pretty cheap since it's usually staffed by volunteers for charity.Flipper wrote:Pam and I will be there....sans the midget...not sure if we're coming in the night before to hit the airshow Saturday or just staying Saturday to hit the show on Sunday. I think I might be around for a little tailgating.
I'm not really sure what the plan is, but we'll be in the W. 3rd lot in the early afternoon to set up shop.

Heading up to Canton Friday night. Leaving the kiddies with the in-laws and heading up as early as possible. Will probably try to check into our hotel, or at least drop our bags off before heading to the west lot. Staying at a courtyard in Independence. I'm planning to be in the parking lot between 12:00 and 1:00. Looking forward to using my grill (christmas present) for the first time. I'll be setting up with UK and his family.
Remember I am also bringing up the blackberry belgian ale I made. A couple of friends and I tried it at our Physiology department research retreat. According to UK Perigrine it isn't bad for a "fruity" beer (he kept putting a stong emphasis on "Fruity", the jerk
) I didn't think it was too bad either, but then again I was well on my way to drunk when I tried it. On the down side the high %alcohol was an unfortunate segway into drinking bourbon like water.

There are certain culinary pursuits which are an abhorrent assault on the senses. Deep frying cake, I imagine, would fall into that category. Fried bread are called "hush puppies." What would we call fried cake........wait. Fried brioche*! I'm willing! Take two slices of brioche, slap some jam on the inside, dredge the sammiches into a batter and awaaaaaaaayyyyyy we go! Interesting. I think my wife just fainted.Zom wrote:Does this mean RUIP will not be deep frying his anniversary cake after all, or do class "C" motorhomes include onboard commercial catering equipment for just this purpose?
A motorhome with commercial grade equipment would be a luxury I would more than welcome!
*brioche is a bread/cake type dough which is fortified by egg. "Let them eat cake" was probably actually stated as "Let them eat brioche" - which makes sense.

Wait. You're not supposed to drink bourbon like water?PGY Tiercel wrote:Heading up to Canton Friday night. Leaving the kiddies with the in-laws and heading up as early as possible. Hey Hammb - check your PM's.hammb wrote:To those making plans, I thought I'd let you know that I don't think I'll have the deep fryer available. Space will be tighter for the long haul over there, so I'll probably just stick with the grill. It's the same grill as Freak has, so we'll have plenty of grill space!

For the record, I was at an arts festival today and one of the food vendors was selling deep fried Oreos. I think they were charging $3 for 4 of 'em. Seems like someone 'round here is missing out on a profit.
