How BIG Could this Week Be?

It's Homecoming Week and it could be a REALLY BIG WEEK. Here's what could happen.

1-We could fill the Doyt and this would put us on track for setting a new season attendance record. Remaining home games--Eastern Mich, Western Mich, and Marshall.

2-We could hear an official announcement about the Student Athletic Center. Previous posts on this site have said that a large donation (3.5 million?) has been offered, that it involves naming rights, and that we can expect an announcement this week.

3-We could put Ball State away early, go on to a blow out, and again see playing time for lots of reserves.

4-Surely there will be a large number of recruits at this game. A big crowd, a blowout against Ball State, and the SAC announcement may persuade some of them to commit to the Falcons.

5-We can hope can't we that Central Mich might defeat Northern Ill? The game is at Northern, but Central looks to be an improving program.

Yes indeed. This could be a REALLY BIG WEEK. And maybe I've overlooked some possibilities. Any of you have some other ideas?

That's awesome! Can't wait to find out who the donor is. As for a #6 -- it has nothing to do with BG, but I get to watch the Browns beat the Bengals in Cleveland.

I believe his first name is Bob. He is father in law (?) of a former player (mid-80s?). Got pretty wealthy as a higher up with Paychex, the Rochester-based payroll services company.

Paychex stock has exploded in value over the past ten, twenty years. The founder, Tom Golisano, is worth about $1 billion.

I think Sebo lives in the Columbus area.

Galisano spoke at BGSU's entreprenuer conferece in the fall, and is a big donor to higher ed.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for no rain. Cool we can handle. Might have a shot at a sell-out if the weather-based walk up is strong. I will be there, bringing my brother and nephew.

Wow, that is just tremendous. May be the largest private donation in U. history. I remember when they were going ga-ga over the Bowens' gift of 2 million I believe.

And the fact that it's a private donor makes this even bigger in my mind. I think it was Louisville on a previous thread that someone posted a picture of their SAC or stadium -- now named "Papa John's Stadium." As great as a huge corporate donation would have been, I was seriously crossing my fingers that we wouldn't end up with something THAT bad.

Can't wait to hear official word of this on Saturday.

I like the way you guys are thinking BiG! This will be a wonderful weekend. Yes, we need some good weather, but we have a lot going for us. This is a good Homecoming Weekend line up of events- see Alumni and Athletic websites.

You have identified Bob Sebo for exactly what he has- a very giving entrepreneur who helped move Paychex to its current leadership position in its industry. Bob lives in Salem, Ohio and has the same reputation there as in BG. He is a big community and school supporter in his town. I think he is probably a fine addition to our board of trustees at BG.

Don't be surprised if this gift has several components- Bob loves BG athletics, but his interests go well beyond our beloved Falcons.
