Interesting Conversation

Post by Peregrinner »

Had a really great conversation this morning at Waffle House. We walked in and I (wearing my BG shorts and BEAT WISCONSIN shirt) sat at the end of my group of family members and next to a man wearing an OSU hat and shirt.

Seeing as we're in Columbus for the wedding this weekend, the place was packed to the brim with scarlet and grey. I think the 5 of us were literally the only people there not sporting tOSU colors.

The guy next to me looked over and said "So, who do you think will win the game today?" I responded with, "What game?" He laughed and I explained that I was more interested in the BGSU v. Wisconsin game today. Expecting a response of "Are you kidding me?" I instead got into a conversation about BG, Wood County and quality MAC teams.

He told me he was originally from Wood County before moving closer to the capital city. We talked for a minute about BG and how we'll be this year and he even talked to me about Omar for a minute.

Then he said "You want to know something about OSU? They're ranked too high." I told him he was the first person in central Ohio that I had ever heard say anything like that. I was pleased to hear him say "Well that's because I'm not one of those guys from Columbus. I drive in for the games. I don't read the Dispatch, I know what I'm talking about." We discussed how OSU has plenty of talent, but a horrendous lack of experience this year and how they'll have to mature quickly to be successful.

We went on to talk about NIU, BGSU and Toledo and how we've got a lot of talent in the MAC, as well as previous showings between MAC and Big 10 schools.

I have to say it was the best conversation I've ever had with an OSU fan, and I thought it was worth sharing.
