Just got back from the game....

First off, it really felt like a home games. Tons of orange and brown. The jumbotron and scoreboard were advertising BG and the MAC a lot.
The team: I really like their fight. Yeah they lost but it was mostly on mistakes usually made by young teams (boneheaded pentalties, key pass drops et al). The defense is wrapping up a bit better this year but there was more "hitting and hoping" than hitting, wrapping, and driving.
Barnes is the man. I think the starting position is his to lose. He could use a little more zip on his passes, but he was pretty cool for a young 'un.
Our band rocked.
Always good to see the Freaks, 61, and Falcon30 unt wife (yet to be named on this board). I got to meet hammb and bgsufn for the first time. Missed Flipper and Schadenfraud again. From my understanding, even if I had an encounter with Schad, he may not have remembered it.
All and all I had a very good time - and that, folks, is what it's all about.
COLLEGE FOOTBALL SEASON IS HERE!!!!!!

i must say i liked the game being at CBS...the student section was amazing all night long...the band was great and the people in the browns organization really made it feel like a home game for us. I like how the PA announcer always emphasized the first downs and teh big plays more for the falcons than the bagders all in all it was a good night the only thing better would have been a falcon win obviously but i did enjoy myself...
we have a chance to win if we would have just used a normal punt formation, the spread formation must go!!

I will have to disagree. While Barnes looked good running the ball, our passing attack was nonexistant. We have got to be able to throw the ball to be succesful. Barnes may have to split some time with Macon at RB, but unless Turner falls flat on his face, Barnes needs to be on the field at a different position.

I'm not sure the lack of a passing attack was Barnes' fault.

There were times where Barnes looked like he couldn't throw the ball into the ocean, but other times his passes were right on. Just too inconsistent for my tastes!

I second that, RUIT! 8)
Also, I like the fact that our defense has really stepped up their game from last year. Even though the majority of the Wisconsin players had about a 20-30 lb advantage, our guys were stopping them pretty consitant, which is very good to see. That will hopefully mean that we can stop the majority of the rest of the MAC offensive guys.
But even though it was a loss, It was a hell of a way to start off the Falcon Football Season!!

Here's a few of my thoughts from the game as well.
The Falcons really did make me proud. We came out strong and scored on the first drive. We had some great plays throughout, such as the fake punt (which I loved!!). Great job to Freddie Barnes, although I think he would rather play running back rather than quarterback...whichever is fine as long as we continue to get more yards!
Defense could use some work, namely going back and learning how to properly tackle. Arm tackling does not work against anyone; we need to hit and hit hard and take them down on the first shot.
Poor Rojas....he had some great punts in practice with a ton of hang time, but we need the different formation to allow him time to get those kicks in. I can't wait to see how Sean Ellis does in actual competition....I saw him warming up before the game and kicking 55 yarders and not even straining (and we've decided that since he's 6'6" and 199 pounds, all his weight is in the muscles of his kicking leg).
The FMB did a great job! I love the modifications to pregame with the tunnel sequence...it looked awesome! The drill also looked impressive! Great sound and I can't wait to see the show this week.
The fans.....decent turnout and a good deal were fairly involved with the game until the last 5 minutes. Considering the support of the fans, this was a great turnout. And I loved seeing all the orange and brown in the stands...it made me smile.
Humorous story: After the game, I went with my family to a T.G.I.Friday's in one of the 'burbs of Cleveland (I don't remember which one). We were still wearing our orange and brown. The host asked us about the game, sympathized with the lose. We saw some other fans who looked rather sad with the loss. The manager, an OSU fan, came over to us, commented on our apparrel, and said that he was sorry to hear about our loss because he hates Wisconsin (granted he said he didn't care for BG but...). He gace us a free appetizer as a sign of his condolences to us in our loss. While I would rather have had a Falcon victory, I'll take the free food!
Overall, great job tonight Falcons and we'll kill Buffalo on Saturday!

I do not believe Wisky plays OSU. If they did OSU would kill them (see NIU who is a much better team this year than Wisky)

If you want to flame Wisconsin, why don't you do it on their board? Leave AZZ out of it.

Yeah, because the MAC has proven it superiority over the Big Ten yet again this year. And if NIU is much better than UW, doesn't that mean you have at least one more butt-whupping coming your way?

I was home in the friendly confines of Petersburg. I bagged the trip midweek to play catch up at the office and at home in anticipation of some minor outpatient surgery next week. Of course I then had to push the surgery back to October so I could go on a job interview Thursday...but at least I can make the Buffalo game without a bunch of stiches to worry about...
Sounds like I mnissed a good time...
