30,307 is a huge disappointment!

The outcome is about what I expected from the team. A game effort but overmatched, I do think the attendance was 10,000 less than acceptable. I would hope we could have put 30,000 in Doyt Perry, with our former configuration, against a middle of the road Big Ten team like Wisconsin.
It is very frustrating to see so many MAC teams host Big Ten schools while we can't even keep the UCF's, Boise States and Wyoming's on our home schedule without cancellations and delays.

The radio announcers were putting the attendance at 35K. I had that in my mind when viewing the stands.
30K just seems a bit skinny in my mind.

I figured between 30 and 35k all along so we got about what I expected. Better weather might have gotten us to 35,000 or more. Decent turnout from Wisconsin but I was expecting a few thousand more from them. BG had a very nice turnout.

Wisconsin didn't "travel well". We could have hosted this in the Doyt. I agree it was a dissappointing turn out, but it is what it is. We can boost the attendance next year by instituting the "Bring a friend" policy! Since we'll all be there, we'll increase attendance by bringing someone else along!

I thought attedance was about right. I thought there'd be a little more there, but I'd say 30,000 was correct. BG had a pretty good showing and there were way more Falcons than Badgers in the stands. Some thought it might be 50-50, no way, not even close. There were way fewer UW fans than I thought with all the talk about how well they travel. I think BG had as many if not more fans in the small ticket allotment we had for Camp Randall last year than the UW fans that came here. On top of that, the weather certainly didn't help. While it was probably the best all day during game time, it sure didn't feel like September 2nd.

Wisconsin brought fewer fans than I expected. I expected attendance of around 40,000, but that was assuming that Wisconsin would bring more. Considering that Wisconsin didn't bring more, 30,000 isn't too disappointing. The new Doyt can't hold that many and Wisconsin wouldn't play at the Doyt anyway.

The attendance was not too bad due to the weather situation. One thing to remember is that there were people that bought tickets and did not show up because they "did not want to bother with the weather."

Keep in mind the ticket prices/revenue for this game. Could we have had 30K at a "crappy high school stadium" as some refer to the Doyt as for upwards of $25/ticket?
I don't think so.
I think this was a good experiment, a decent crowd, and a good experience for the team, the fans, and the conference.
Less than 30K would have been a huge dissappointment. Sure the number could have been bigger and we all would have liked it bigger, but there you have it.

The weather kept some casual fans away for sure. 30K isn't bad. I still think 40K if the weather was nice. All in all we had a great time depsite the outcome.
Student Attedacne....

Seem pretty good from what I could tell in the Dawg Pound. That Mezzanine section though was very sparse. I thought we had 35k or so there not bad but I think 40k would've been better. I wonder what it could've been if Omar had returned, I think we hit 38-40k fairly easy.

if we still had Omar there would have been at least 10K more in teh stands and there would have been a falcon victory, but we dont have him anymore and it rained so attendance fell off a bit, i still liked seeing the 2-1 in attendance favoring teh falcons

imagine what Toledo is going to get in 2009 against OSU in a full stadium.
