Brown Jerseys

So are we no longer wearing orange as our home jersey? I like that style jersey so much better than the brown/white combination. They do look better with white pants than with the orange pants we wore against Toledo (because the jersey has no orange in it), but I would like to see us with a jersey that contains both of our primary school colors.

The Orange jerseys are still our home jersey. Think of the Brown jersey as our "Alternate."
I think the Brown on White looked sharp with the Orange helmets.

I'd agree with that. I thought they looked sharp Saturday, but working orange in somehow would be cool. Saw a girl at the tailgate and then out again later that night with more of an "80's" brown jersey (probably actually the mid-90's version, come to think of it), and that was sweet.

I thought the jerseys that were worn on Saturday was the Throwback jersey because didn't we wear that same jersey last year when Wisconsin wore their throwback jerseys? I will agree with others in saying that the uniform does look pretty sharp.

What if those two swaths over the shoulders were orange? Then the orange/brown pants might not look so out of place with them, I suppose. I will say that those shoulder swaths to sync up rather well with the pointed stripe on the uniform pants, and I think the reason that they worked well on Saturday was because they contrasted well with the brown on white pants.

Me too.
There is this feeling I got Saturday in Cleveland that is difficult to put into words, but I first felt it when I saw a Michigan game in person when I was a lot younger.
At that game, I was looking around the stadium and just overwhelmed with awe and a sense of tradition.
I felt some of that Saturday -- that Bowling Green playing Wisconsin in Cleveland on grass surrounded by this palace to football near Lake Erie was the most natural thing in the world. I felt like both teams belonged there, and that we had just as much tradition to be proud of as the opponents in white.
It wouldn't have been the same had Bowling Green been wearing orange, I don't think.
I wish we wore brown every home game. I don't think that's the plan, but I wish it was.
I do like the idea of making the white swath on the shoulders orange. That could be good.

No. We wore whites, for one thing.

I for one am a big fan of the brown jerseys and the unis as a whole. I think the brown jerseys look really slick with the white pants, although I liked them just as much with the orange pants. I know white is kind of like our 3rd color, but I have no problem using it more than the orange on our jerseys, because when we wear orange we usually have more white than brown. So it made since to have more white than orange when we wore the brown jerseys. As for when and how often to wear them, I have to say that I like the brown jerseys so much that I hope we keep them as an alternate and wear them on special occasions and big games only!
An idea I had for an alternate road jersey, would be to keep the white top, and wear brown pants with the white stripe on the side. Pretty much the same pant design we have now for road games, just switching the brown and white colors. I also think for a big home came, coming out with those pants and the brown jerseys would be SUPER awesome, but thats just my take on it!

I had that thought as well, but I don't think it would work. The beauty of these brown jerseys is the simplicity. Just two colors. No third color under the arm, no goofy striping 'bib' around the back, no fancy outline around the numbers. Just brown and white. Old school.
I don't think an orange shoulder swath would look right with white numerals. And I don't think orange numerals on the brown jersey would look quite right either. I say for this style jersey, the white pants with the brown 'tooth' look pretty good.

Well, I just watched the highlights of Michael Bush breaking his leg (brutal, Joe Thiesman-ish), but I noticed Louisville has the same style unis as us. Last night they wore black pants with a red 'tooth'. Black jerseys with a red shoulder swath and white numerals with red outline. Go here to see pictures
http://uoflsports.cstv.com/sports/m-foo ... 06aab.html# Interesting that they do have three colors in the jersey and it looks good. Also check out their red jerseys with the white swath. And I really like how the white jersey, red pants combo looks with the white helmet. (Except for the stupid stripe on the helmet -starts fat then thins to a point in the back)

I thought the same thing!! I loved the brown jersey with white pans and our bright orange helmets!! I thought the helmets were the perfect accessory to a highly fashionable BG outfit!

The Brown jerseys are by far the best. Old School. We looked great in CBS. I too felt like we belonged. Maybe we should paint some of those concrete walls at the Doyt orange and brown like they did to CBS this year. I almost wished we played at least one game a year there.
By the way all white away jerseys are the best. In fact if we were 95% white pants and jersey with just brown or orange numbers, that would be the best. I have lost my feeling for the all orange, pants, jersey, helmet. It just doesn't look right anymore.

I must be in the minority here. I really do not like the brown jerseys. I don't know what it is about them...just too plain I think. I've always preferred the orange jersey, orange pants look. I think it's a bit more flashy. That being said, I love Penn states uni's. White and blue. Classic. Maybe if BG always had always worn brown, like Penn state with white and blue? I don't have a very good reason not to like them, I just don't. My 2 cents.
