First off, I was excited for this game and probably talked myself into thinking we would keep it close and have a chance.
I got up at 6:30 that day, picked up my friend and drove from Columbus to Mentor to meet my father in law, Class of '69 to play golf. After 9 holes of golf in the driving rain, we all were not happy and we all thought it would but a damper on the numbers at the games that night.
Due to his business contacts, Dad in law was able to hook us up for a suite located on the 25 yard line behind the BG bench!! Sweet. 1st series was awesome! 80 yards, Freddie slashing through the line and making them guess. Could not believe it.
I turned to my friend after the touchdown and said, let's see if we can stop the run now. As I open up my program and read that three Def. starters are true freshmen. Well, you guys know the rest.
I was upset we didn't get the ball into the red zone until it was too late in the game. I was hoping to see Big Bird knock in two or three from over 40 yards.
Our punt formation cost us 14 points on a 21 point loss. Not picking on Rojas but come on coaches throw that crap in the trash and use a seven man front and kick it out of there.
UW was just too big and we could not stop them. I did like the goal line stance on their second drive however. But then we could not drive the ball and three and out. I hoped to see more throwing of the ball but I totally understand after watching the game I don't think FB can launch the ball like Omar could. This kid does need to be on the field however, too much of an athlete not to be out there. Why did we only throw on bubble screen to Macon.....I think it would have worked much better earlier in the game. If I remember correctly, he ran off 7-8 yards on that. Toledo always kicks our butts with that, how come we can't give that back. Let him get out in the open and burn.
Good luck this year BG, I think the East is a free for all and we will see who is standing when the smoke clears!
