Ohio at Toledo to be shown on ESPN this Saturday

Post by BGSU33 »

From Ohio University:

For the first time in history, an Ohio (University) football game will be shown on ESPN. The game time of Bobcats' October 16th contact at Toledo has been moved from 7 PM to noon to accommodate the broadcast. The contest will be televised on a regional basis to over 20 million cable subscribers. The coverage area includes the states of Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, plus other selected markets to be announced. As part of the arrangement, the broadcast will also automatically be included on ESPN GamePlan, making it available nationwide on a pay-per-view basis.

Great for Ohio and the MAC. The more the conference is showcased to the nation the better. OU hasn't disappointed thus far on TV this year either. They beat UK on ESPN Gameplan and played Marshall tough on ESPN Plus. I'm routing for them to beat TU, before we travel to Athens next week.

OU 27 UT 21. I think OU can win this game. Ou has shown that they have a good defense this year, I think they can hold the Toledo offense down somewhat and OU's offense is improving quickly. The bobcats are angry about what happened on saturday and come back with an upset in the ass bowl.

What happens in a three-way tie --- NI loses to UT, UT loses to BG. This assumes, of course, that all three teams suffer only one loss. How is the tie broken?

This has been discussed in multiple threads, with nothing definitively determined as far as I know. I'm not going to get too worked up until it actually happens. I would be thrilled if we won out, but I don't believe the chances of us winning the west even if that happened are very good.

First, it assumes UT, NIU, and BG would have a single conference loss.

Based on that, the would select NIU based on BGSU and UT having gone to the title game more recently.

i heard they originally wanted kent/marshall, but kent wouldn't change the time of the game (homecoming conflicts?) to accommodate. first, kent should want to be on tv, but second, i think a lot more than time changes they wanted to stick it in marshall's ear and not let them gain any additional national exposure. iirc, the kent administration has had one of the biggest beefs with marshall in the past.

maybe i'm just thinking conspiracy here? but if the kent thing is true, that's awesome!
