I feel it will be a good measure of his head coaching ability to see what adjustments will be made. I don't know how much to expect in just a few days, it may take a couple of weeks to figure it all out. I have faith that he can do it, now that it seems apparent he is aware of the issues on special teams AND seems willing to do something about it.

The first steep was publicly taken, and this admiting there is a big, HUGE Problem.
It should not be dificult to move those Spec teams guys into a standard formation and have them be more effective from the get go. The problem is then the punter and we need a guy, some guy on the team who has a hoof to do it.

Seriously, will you lay the hell off of Rojas? I know he's your crusade for the month, but this is uncalled for. He has not had anything closely resembling a chance to show what he is capable off. He's had his leg almost ripped off twice, and has 3 guys breathing down his neck on every attempt. He's also played 2 collegiate games and was the #1 punter recruit in the nation. Once he gets a game or two under his belt in which he can punt without fearing for his life, then we can actually judge what we have.

As it is now, you're just being an ass.

Without Rojas, who knows how many XP's get blocked with Big Bird's hip flexor. The problem isn't the punter, it's the other 10 guys in front of him. Watching the kid in warmups, he's getting off 45-50 yard punts, but for in game situations he has to get off a punt much quicker due to a lack in coverage. Like I said before...until someone takes accountability of the ST's, the problems will still remain there.

I decided not to post it, but that's the first thing that I thought when reading that quote.

I think it's very plain to see that this team is poorly coached, in spite of what a coach a million miles away pays lipservice to.

It seems to me that the worse a coach is the more praise he receives from his peers. They like coaches that they can beat. Take Larry Coker, for instance. I constantly read comments about how well coached they are at Miami from their opponents. Then I watch the games and realize why. That guy couldn't coach a Peewee team, and he's driving one of the better programs in the country (and ruining it, I might add).

Unless your head coach has a track record like Paterno or something I would seriously have questions anytime my opposing coaches praised them. They are in it for their own best interests.

I agree with your point, in that people are going to say that no matter what. Mainly because they are in it for their own interests, but I'm starting to wonder if any of you on here would recognize a good coach if you saw one. Larry Coker is a damn good football coach, period.

To lose multiple games a year with the talent Miami can pull in? Yeah, real superstar coach there.

That guy is clueless as a coach, and ask most any 'canes fan they'd agree. The guy fired a large chunk of his staff this past year just to save his rear. Maybe it was the fact that he had 4-5 assistant coaches who sucked, but I doubt it.

Thank you for an even bigger laugh. By losing "multiple games a year" you must be referring to his 53-9 record ! Man thats such poor coaching, and you are right the Canes fans hate him after he lead them to a NC, and was a BS pass interference call way from leading them to a 2nd NC in his 5 seasons there! Like you said, down to the Pee Wee leagues for him!

I'll reserve my judgement on Miami's coach until the 'Canes matchup with FIU.

I agree with Hammb on this one. Larry Coker hasn't shown anything as a coach. Hell, you and I could have gone to Miami and won with the talent they have had under Coker. Butch Davis did the turn around thing and then left the cupboard full for Coker. (never mind that Davis went on to set back the Browns franchise by 10 years)

At the bigger football powerhouses, most anyone can win. John Copper at Ohio State...exhibit A. Copper had so much talent over the years and still managed to go 7-4 and 8-3 every year. The bigger programs recruit themselves. Their coaches just need to stay out of the way to be successful.

Now there has been some exceptions to this rule...see Bob Davis in South Bend and Ron Zook in Gainesville.

Larry Coker impresses me as a very good assistant coach with the Xs and Os, but doesn't have what it takes as a head coach to put a program over the top.
