FIU's very odd stadium

Hmmm.

It seats 17,000. And, apparently, they still use that track -- meaning a lot of that seating is portable.

People like to run down our stadium, but I like it a ton more than what I see there.

Perhaps this whole Big East/ACC/Conference USA/WAC/Sun Belt realignment thing forced FIU to move up to I-A a couple years earlier than they had planned?

I was wondering the same thing.

Clues:

-- The bench seating is orange, so it is clearly before the aluminum went in.
-- The lighting is temporary.

That could be the first night game ever played on campus. Akron, 25,000. The east side seems a *bit* light for that, but the rest of the place looks pretty full.

WINNNER. Indeed, it was the first night game. 33 some odd thousand of our closest friends. What a game that was. Great halftime show as well.

Was it not the 3rd largest crowd on record at the time? I swear it was close to capacity.

How 99% of our biggest crowds in Doyt history are against UT and Miami. Akron must have been good in the mid 80's don't know about Central M.

If you were paying attention, you would know that the Akron game was the first ever night game at DLP.

And CMU was in fact a power back in 1994. My memory is a bit fuzzy, but it seems like a special teams breakdown costs us that game.

"Breakdown"?? More like "naptime".

And technically, it wasn't "99%" of the biggest crowds, it's 73.3% of the top 15 crowds are against Toledo and Miami(OH).
