In the report, it says we are off to a surprising start of 2-1. I don't get that, we lost to the one team we should have lost to, and beat the two teams we should have beaten. What's the surprise there?

You must not have been reading some of the posts leading up to the FIU game. Some people on the board thought we had a pretty good chance of losing. If people on our own board are thinking this what do you think the national media thinks?

Yeah no doubt. I thought the same thing when I read it, but then I dismissed as, no one expected Miami to be 0-3 and Akron to already have a MAC loss and for us to have this much control over our destiny this early in the MAC East. But of course they didnt say that and they could have.

You must not have been reading some of the posts before the season started. Many people on the board thought we had a pretty good chance of losing the FIU game stating in the past it would be a game that we "should" win but with this team there are no games that are gimmies.

Those points are true, but even with that being said 90% of the people that made predictions had us 2-1 at this point. Even the Athlon magazine that ranks us 103 out of 119, had us at a garunteed 2-1 at this point with only 4 promised wins on the entire season and then 2 "swing" games!

I'm guessing that those four gimmie wins were Buffalo, FIU, Kent State, and Eastern Michigan. Wait, but there's Temple in there too. So they had us losing one of those 5 games? I remember taking some heat because I had those 5 as lock-down 100% guaran-damn-teed wins for us. We're 2-0 in those games, but we've been hardly dominating in the process. I've been forced to concede that we could lose those too if we play badly.

Honestly, I'm beginning to move the game against Miami into the revised damn-near 100% guaranteed win category as well. They look BAD. That gives us 6 wins, and if we can just play as well on the road as we did last year, we WILL be MAC East Champions this year. From what it looks like right now, the game against Toledo won't carry as much significance as usual this season, the biggest games on the board appear to be Ohio U on September 30 and Akron on November 5. If we pull out wins in those games then you can pretty much punch our tickets to Detroit barring an upset against Kent State, Eastern Michigan, or Miami

The magazine lists UB,FIU,Kent, and Temple as the garunteed wins. So the game on your list that they dont have is Eastern Mich. They have that game listed as a swing game along with @Ohio. Yes, they have us marked down as a garunteed loss to Miami, which is stupid, but understandable in some sense. I mean no one really thought they were going to be THAT bad this year and they still may not be. I think that game at Ohio might be really tough for us this year, especially with the style of footballl Solich likes to play (defense and st's).

I think anything could still happen with as bizarre as the MAC has been this year. I still like us to win the East and WMU to win the West, but it really could be just about anyone right now and there are no garunteed wins this year like usual. The only game that is a true gimmie is Temple and that game somewhat doesnt even matter because its not a MAC game!

Athalon rankings, write ups, projections on W and L's is for crap. I would go with The Sporting News as a better guide. Frankly, the way things are shaping up any matchup between...say #60-115 is going to be close and decided more times than not by a couple of significant plays (i.e. Akron tosses an INT TD).

I would also say ALL MAC games are significant, remember that cross over games with the West could play huge in tie-breakers which could be a reality again the way the entire conference is playing thus far in head-to-heads.

I've watched some of the first half coverage Kent vs. Miami, and the Redskins did look abysmal. But I am not looking so far ahead to chalk that up as a win.

Buckle up...they are all going to be tight. But first things first, shut down Pruden, play mistake free -drive sustaining, clock eating possession football and our guys will be able to turn away a team starting to believe in itself and hope that they catch fire a week later vs. Akron
